Diagnóstico etilógico de la disfunción ventricular izquierda con tomografia computerizada: comparación con coronariografía y cardiorresonancia
2012
[EN] Introduction and objectives To evaluate the capability of multidetector computed tomography to diagnose the coronary etiology of left ventricular dysfunction compared with using invasive coronary angiography and magnetic resonance. Methods Forty consecutive patients with left ventricular dysfunction of uncertain etiology underwent invasive coronary angiography and contrast magnetic resonance. All patients were evaluated with multidetector computed tomography including coronary calcium presence and score, noninvasive coronary angiography, and myocardial tissue assessment. Results The sensitivity and specificity of the presence of coronary calcium to identify left ventricular dysfunction…
Ti2Sn3: A Novel Binary Intermetallic Phase, Prepared by Chemical Transport at Intermediate Temperature
2000
Ti2Sn3 was obtained by chemical transport using iodine as the transport agent in a sealed quartz ampule at 500 °C. Its crystal structurea new type structurewas determined via single-crystal structure analysis to be orthorhombic, space group Cmca, a = 595.56(4), b = 1996.4(2), c = 702.81(5) pm, V = 835.6(1) × 106 pm3, and Z = 8. The structure can be derived from a three-dimensional condensation of a single polyhedron, which comprises a Ti atom in the center, surrounded by seven Sn and four Ti atoms forming a tri-capped square antiprism. Supporting the results of the self-consistent band structure calculations, Ti2Sn3 is a metallic p-type conductor, exhibiting Pauli paramagnetism and a specif…
Crystal Fields in PrX3 (X=In, Tl, Pb, Sn) Intermetallic Compounds with Cu3Au Structure
1977
We have determined the crystal field splittings of Pr3+ in PrIn3, PrTl3, PrPb3, and PrSn3 by inelastic neutron scattering. The values of the deduced crystal field parameters are found to depend strongly on the constituent X, though all systems have nonmagnetic ground-states. The line widths in the different systems are compared.
Crystal field splitting of some rare earth intermetallic compounds with Cu3Au structure
1980
Inelastic neutron scattering studies were performed in the paramagnetic phases of several rare earth compounds that crystallize in the cubic Cu3Au structure: ErPb3, ErTl3, ErIn3, HoPb3, HoTl3, HoIn3, PrSn3, PrPb3, PrTl3, PrIn3, CeIn3, La1−c Pr c Tl3, and Pr(In0.5Tl0.5)3. The energies, widths and intensities of the crystal field excitations are determined and discussed in terms of interactions between the rare earth ions. Variations of the crystal field parameters are observed across the series.
Electromagnetic and ultrasonic investigations on a Roman marble slab
2011
The archaeological museum of Rome asked our group about the physical consistency of a marble slab (second to third century AD) that recently fell during its travel as part of an exhibition. We decided to use different methodologies to investigate the slab: namely a pacometer (Protovale Elcometer) to individuate the internal coupling pins, and ground-penetrating radar (GPR) (2000 MHz) and ultrasonic (55 kHz) tomographic high-density surveys to investigate the internal extension of all the visible fractures and to search for the hidden ones. For the ultrasonic data, tests were carried out to optimize the inversion parameters, in particular the cell dimensions. Surely, the choice of cell size …
Spectrophotometric flow injection determination of formetanate and m-aminophenol in water after reaction with p-aminophenol
1992
Abstract An automated procedure has been developed for the determination of formetanate and its metabolite m -aminophenol (MAP) in water samples. MAP can be selectively determined in the presence of formetanate by direct on-line reaction with p -aminophenol and spectrophotometric measurement of the absorbance at 576 nm in the presence of KIO 4 , as oxidizing agent. The method has a limit of detection of 5 × 10 −7 M , it provides a recovery percentage from 95 to 104% and permits one to carry out 120 measurements/hr. The spectrophotometric determination of formetanate must be carried out after a previous hydrolysis to MAP. To determine formetanate in the presence of MAP, two steps are necessa…
Rapid microwave assisted hydrolysis of formetanate
1993
Abstract A fast microwave-assisted hydrolysis procedure has been developed for the derivatization of formetanate previously to the flow-injection spectrophotometric determination of m -aminophenol by reaction with p -aminophenol. Formetanate is quantitatively hydrolyzed with 0.1 M NaOH in 150 s using a closed polyetrafluoroethylene reactor with 115 ml internal volume and a radiation power of 390 W. The above procedure has been applied, as a previous step, for the flow-injection spectrophotometric determination of formetanate in spiked water samples and accurate and precise results have been found. The method permits to obtain a limit of detection of 0.025 mg 1 −1 of formetanate. The relativ…
A validated and fast procedure for FTIR determination of Cypermethrin and Chlorpyrifos.
2005
Abstract A FTIR methodology has been developed for the simultaneous determination of Cypermethrin and Chlorpyrifos in pesticide commercially available formulations. The method involves the extraction of both active principles with CHCl3 and direct measurement of the peak area values between 1747 and 1737 cm−1 corrected with a baseline defined at 2000 cm−1 for Cypermethrin and peak height values established at 1549 cm−1 corrected using a baseline situated at 1650 cm−1 for Chlorpyrifos. The limits of detection achieved were of the order of 0.7 and 0.4% (w/w), and the relative standard deviation 0.4 and 0.2% for Cypermethrin and Chlorpyrifos, respectively. The developed procedure provided stat…
Mechanically Activated SHS Reaction in the Fe-Al System: In Situ Time Resolved Diffraction Using Synchrotron Radiation
1998
The Mechanical Activation Self propagating High temperature Synthesis (M.A.S.H.S.) processing is a new way to produce nanocrystalline iron aluminide intermetallic compounds. This process is maily the combination of two steps ; in the one hand, a mechanical activation where the Fe - Al powder mixture was milled during a short time at given energy and frequency of shocks and in the other hand, a Self propagating High temperature Synthesis (S.H.S.) reaction, for which the exothermicity of the Fe + Al reaction is used. This fast propagated MASHS reaction has been in -situ investigated using the Time Resolved X - Ray Diffraction (TRXRD) using a X - ray synchrotron beam and an infrared thermograp…
Investigation of mechanically activated field-activated pressure-assisted synthesis processing parameters for producing dense nanostructured FeAl
2003
The parameters of the mechanically activated field-activated pressure-assisted synthesis (MAFAPAS) process, which were recently developed and patented for producing dense nanostructured materials, were studied in the case of the B2-FeAl intermetallic. Based on x-ray diffraction (XRD) experiments, residual stresses XRD analysis, relative density measurement, and secondary-electron microscopic observations, the optimal synthesis conditions (time, current intensity, and pressure) were studied. Fe + Al powders were comilled in a specially designed planetary mill to obtain a mixture of reactants at the nanoscale without the formation of any product. The milled mixtures were then subjected to a h…
