Phase transitions in Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-(Sr0.7Bi0.2)TiO3-PbTiO3 solid solutions

ABSTRACTIncreasing of Sr0.7Bi0.2TiO3 concentration in Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3-Sr0.7Bi0.2TiO3 solid solutions causes increasing of Bi/Na relation and vacancies in the A-site of perovskite structure. In temperature dependence of dielectric permittivity, such a change of composition is reflected by transforming of the frequency-dependent shoulder into a maximum characteristic for relaxor ferroelectrics and diminishing of the frequency-independent maximum characteristic for Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3. On asymmetric periodic solutions in relay feedback systems

Abstract Asymmetric self-excited periodic motions or periodic solutions which are produced by relay feedback systems that have symmetric characteristics are studied in the paper. Two different mechanisms of producing an asymmetric oscillation by a system with symmetric properties are noted and analyzed by the locus of a perturbed relay system (LPRS) method. Bifurcation between the ability to excite symmetric and asymmetric oscillation with variation of system parameters is analyzed. An algorithm of finding asymmetric solutions is proposed.
Mass calibration of the energy axis in ToF- E elastic recoil detection analysis

We report on procedures that we have developed to mass-calibrate the energy axis of ToF-E histograms in elastic recoil detection analysis. The obtained calibration parameters allow one to transform the ToF-E histogram into a calibrated ToF-M histogram.

The ideal diode equation is regularly used to describe the $\textit {JV}$ -characteristic of single junction solar cells. The connection between the diode equation and fundamental physics is the application of the Boltzmann approximation to describe the fluxes of photons emitted by the cell. In this paper, this approximation is used to derive analytic $\textit {JV}$ -characteristics for three photovoltaic high-efficiency concepts, intermediate band solar cells, and solar cells optically coupled to up and downconverters. Investigation on partial discharges in HVDC cables after polarity reversal events

Due to the accumulation of space charge inside the insulating layer of HVDC cables, the electric field under load conditions may be altered compared to what is established in HVAC cables. For example, a high thermal gradient leads to the inversion of the electric field pattern until the maximum value is reached in proximity of the dielectric-semicon interfaces. These maximum values can be further increased due to transient overvoltages and polarity reversal events until reaching electric field values higher than the rated ones. Abstract Magnetic pulse welding enables to produce perplexing interfacial morphologies due to the complex material response during the high strain rate collision. Thus, a thermomechanical model is used in this study to investigate the formation mechanism of the wake, vortex, swirling and mesoscale cavities with the increase of the impact intensity at the interface. The formation of these interfacial features are difficult to characterize by insitu methods, thus the origin of phenomena still remain a subject of open discussion. Silicon dosimeters based on Floating Gate Sensor: design, implementation and characterization

A rad-hard monolithic dosimeter has been implemented and characterized in a standard 180 nm CMOS technology. The radiation sensor (C-sensor) is based on a Floating Gate (FG) MOS discharge principle. The output current is processed by a current-to-voltage (I/V) interface and then converted by a 5-bit flash ADC. The dosimeter is re-usable (FG can be recharged) and can detect a dose up to 1krad (Si) with a resolution of 30rad (Si) typical over temperature 0 to 85°C range. The ADC allows easy further signal processing for calibration and averaging, etc. The power consumption of C-sensor plus I/V interface is < 2mW from a 5 V power supply. Current signatures from an induction motor are normally used to detect anomalies in the condition of the motor based on signal processing techniques.
