A qualitative study of male and female perceptions in differences in the working and domestic sphere : a comparison of the French and Finnish cultures

This thesis presents a comparison between two culturally different countries in terms of gender differences causing inequality in the working and domestic life. France, one of the pioneer countries in terms of fighting for women’s rights, but at the same time strongly paternalistic and chauvinist as a result of its Latin culture, is compared to Finland, considered as an example for gender equality. The research was conducted among private French and Finnish companies, where interviews were conducted of male and female employees holding different positions in the hierarchy. The aim of this study was to develop teaching methods for practising argumentative problem-solving in a degree program of social services. The purpose was to acquire knowledge about multiple (face-to-face, online, and integrated) learning environments for studying argumentative problem-solving. In addition, the typical features of collaborative argumentation in student discussions were identified. Two teaching experiments were arranged in courses on drug and alcohol abuse. International audience; It is customary for some universities to offer recordings of live lectures to students. Whether this improves learning and academic performance is debated in the literature. As with most technology, correct usage can lead to increased academic performance, but there are also usage patterns that can be considered counter productive, especially for learning mathematics. Organocatalytic Oxa-Michael/Michael/Michael/Aldol Condensation Quadruple Domino Sequence : Asymmetric Synthesis of Tricyclic Chromanes

An efficient and highly stereoselective one-pot, four-component synthesis of functionalized tricyclic chromanes has been achieved through an organocatalyzed quadruple domino reaction. The reaction sequence involves an oxa-Michael/Michael/Michael/aldol condensation between alcohols, 2 equiv of acrolein, and nitrochromenes to generate the pharmaceutically important tricyclic chromanes bearing three contiguous stereogenic centers including a chiral tetrasubstituted carbon center in good domino yields (30–70%) and excellent diastereo- and enantioselectivities (>20:1 dr and >99% ee). peerReviewed

This paper aims to discuss complexity as a key feature for understanding the role of science knowledge in environmental and health contexts—a central issue in Science|Environment|Health pedagogy. Complex systems are, in principle, not predictable. In different contexts, ephemeral mechanisms produce different, sometimes completely unexpected results. The art of decision-making in complex contexts is to take scientific knowledge into account but to interpret its meaning in terms of concrete complex contexts.
