Pirmsoperāciju pacientu kontrole anestēzijas, intensīvās un neatliekamās aprūpes māsu darbā
2018
Heritage of the Soviet Ideology in parenting nowadays : the case of Latvia
2015
The Soviet period has shaped the history of Latvia in different areas. This article offers an insight into the ideological heritage which has significantly transformed the pedagogical discourse in theoretical as well as instrumental level. Article describes a part of two researches “Social transformations of the child's image in children's room” and “Father`s Pedagogical Competence in Family Nowadays”, revealing common features characterizing Soviet issues. Narrative explores crucial systemic changes, transformation of social and family life, deals with the deformed relationship between individuals in public sphere and family members in private and shows consequences still actual nowadays, …
Selective chemisorption of carbon monoxide by organic-inorganic hybrid materials incorporating cobalt(III) corroles as sensing components.
2007
Twenty-one hybrid materials incorporating cobalt(III) corrole complexes were synthesized by a sol–gel process or by grafting the metallocorrole onto a mesostructured silica of the SBA-15 type. All the materials show an almost infinite selectivity for carbon monoxide with respect to dinitrogen and dioxygen in the low-pressure domain where the chemisorption phenomenon is predominant. This peculiar property is of prime importance for an application as a CO sensor. The selectivity slightly decreases at high pressures where nonselective physisorption phenomena mainly occur. The percentage of active sites for CO chemisorption ranges from 22 to 64 %. This low percentage may be attributable to inte…
Synthesis of a new class of pyrrolo[3,4-h]quinazolines with antimitotic activity
2014
Abstract A new series of pyrrolo[3,4- h ]quinazolines was conveniently prepared with a broad substitution pattern. A large number of derivatives was obtained and the cellular cytotoxicity was evaluated in vitro against 5 different human tumor cell lines with GI 50 values reaching the low micromolar level (1.3–19.8 μM). These compounds were able to induce cell death mainly by apoptosis through a mitochondrial dependent pathway. Selected compounds showed antimitotic activity and a reduction of tubulin polymerization in a concentration-dependent manner. Moreover, they showed anti-angiogenic properties since reduced in vitro endothelial cell migration and disrupted HUVEC capillary-like tube net…
‘Proletarius iam civis’. A proposito di un’interpretazione di Bernardo Albanese di XII Tab. 1.4.
2014
Basing her study on Bernardo Albanese’s interpretation of the syntagm ‘proletario iam civi’ – which is uphold as the original content of XII Tab. 1.4 – the author intends to take to heart the results gained by the Scholar from Palermo, who acknowledged an early link between proletarius and prolis, and a primary meaning of prolis closely related to the idea of belonging to civitas. Hence, the author proposes to resurvey the literary and legal tradition that coupled proletarius and prolis, by considering the interpretation of the Festus’s lemma proletarium. Such interpretation is the effective evidence of a long-lasting tradition that, undeniably stemming from the decemviral precept that embo…
One-Pot Synthesis of Pyrrole-2-carboxylates and -carboxamides via an Electrocyclization/Oxidation Sequence
2014
An electrocyclic ring closure is the key step of an efficient one-pot method for the synthesis of pyrrole-2-carboxylates and -carboxamides from chalcones and glycine esters or amides. The 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyrrole intermediates generated in situ are oxidized to the corresponding pyrroles by stoichiometric oxidants or by catalytic copper(II) and air in moderate to high yields. A wide range of functional groups are tolerated, and further combination with an in situ bromination gives access to polyfunctional pyrrole scaffolds.

The Adult Sprague-Dawley Sugen-Hypoxia Rat Is Still "the One:" A Model of Group 1 Pulmonary Hypertension: Reply to Le Cras and Abman
2020
To the editor: Kojonazarov et al. recently reported severe emphysema in the SU5416/Hypoxia (SuHx) rat model of pulmonary hypertension (1). The authors found that adult male Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats had increased air-to-tissue ratio as judged by non-gated in vivo micro-computed tomography (CT), and an increased mean linear intercept (MLI) as surrogate of emphysema (1, 2). Le Cras and Abman now responded to the Kojonazarov report by underlining the “important role of the developmental timing of disrupted VEGF signaling” (3). They cite earlier studies conducted on the ovine fetus showing that VEGF inhibition caused vascular remodeling, reduction in vascular/airway growth, and neonatal pulmonary…
Pharmaceutical potential of synthetic and natural pyrrolomycins
2015
The emergence of antibiotic resistance is currently considered one of the most important global health problem. The continuous onset of multidrug-resistant Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial strains limits the clinical efficacy of most of the marketed antibiotics. Therefore, there is an urgent need for new antibiotics. Pyrrolomycins are a class of biologically active compounds that exhibit a broad spectrum of biological activities, including antibacterial, antifungal, anthelmintic, antiproliferative, insecticidal, and acaricidal activities. In this review we focus on the antibacterial activity and antibiofilm activity of pyrrolomycins against Gram-positive and Gram-negative pathogens…
Pyrrolo[3,2-h]quinazolines as Photochemotherapeutic Agents
2011
Heteroanalogues of angelicin, pyrrolo[3,2-h]quinazolines, were synthesized with the aim of obtaining new potent photochemotherapeutic agents. Many derivatives caused a significant decrease in cell proliferation in several human tumor cell lines after irradiation with UVA light (GI(50) =15.2-0.2 μM). Their phototoxicity effected apoptosis in Jurkat cells with the involvement of mitochondria (as determined by the loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and production of reactive oxygen species) and lysosomes. The phototoxicity of these compounds could be explained by lipid peroxidation.
