Prostatas vēža pacientu audzēju un bioloģiskos šķidrumos atrodamo ārpusšūnas vezikulu transkriptomu salīdzinājums

Visdažādāko veidu šūnas izdala ārpusšūnas vezikulas (EVs) un ir pierādīts, ka tām ir nozīmīga loma prostatas vēža (PCa) attīstībā, jo tās spēj pārnest dažādas bioloģiskās molekulas, tostarp RNS, no vienas šūnas uz otru. Šis darbs ir vērsts uz plazmas un urīna EV, kā arī PCa audzēja un normālu prostatas audu transkriptoma izpēti, izmantojot RNS sekvencēšanas (RNA-seq) tehnoloģiju. Rezultāti uzrādīja, ka 1868 proteīnus kodējošie gēni un 1108 garās nekodējošās RNS (lncRNS) bija paaugstināti ekspresētas audzēja audos salīdzinājumā ar normāliem prostatas audiem, taču tikai 6% līdz 31% proteīnus kodējošie gēni un 1% līdz 5% lncRNS bija atrodamas EVs, kas liecina, ka EV ietvertā RNS saturs tikai d…

Functionally-defined recurrent multi-word units in English-to-Polish translation

This study uses both parallel and comparable reference corpora in the English-Polish language pair to explore how translators deal with recurrent multi-word items performing specific discoursal functions.We also consider whether the observed tendencies overlap with those found in native texts,and the extent to which the discoursal functions realised by themulti-word items under scrutiny are “preserved” in translation. Grounded in phraseology and corpus linguistics, this paper aims to explore the use of bilingual lexical bundles to improve the degree of naturalness and textual fit of translated texts. More specifically, this study attempts to identify lexical bundles, that is, recurrent sequences of 3–7 words with similar discursive functions in a purpose-designed comparable corpus of English and Polish patient information leaflets, with 100 text samples in each language. Teaching audio‑visual translation at the “French Philology level 0” course: methods, contents, clues
 In the face of a sensible diminution of the number of high‑school graduates able to communicate in French well enough to follow the “classical” French Philology course, many Polish universities offer their students the possibility of studying “French Philology level 0”. One of the key skills developed by this course is translation, including basic audio‑visual translation competences. The paper shows some examples of translator training clues that have been worked out at the Opole University.

Transnational corporations (TNCs) are the leading actors of the global economic scene; so their strategic behaviors tend to be followed by their challengers - in search for global competitiveness. Therefore (and in spite of some well known blunders and slippages), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) may have the vocation to become a generalized dimension of the corporate strategy - as well as an answer to some of the very thorny problems facing the humankind. The aim of the paper is to analyze the attitudes toward CSR of the world's top TNCs, in order to see if there is a pattern regarding their strategies.
Dealing with viewers’ complaints: Role, visibility and transparency of PSB Ombudsmen in ten European countries

The article shows the results of a comparative analysis of the complaints management mechanisms offered by ten European Public Service Broadcasting (PSB) systems on their corporate websites. Using a qualitative methodology, it maps the procedures and evaluates the visibility, transparency and dissemination of results. The findings show, firstly, great diversity in terms of responsible election and management, despite the converging media governance. Also noteworthy is the margin of substantial improvement in the transparency and dissemination possibilities, specially relating to the interaction offered by the digital environment.
