Ultrasound assisted reductive cleavage of sesquiterpene γ-enonelactones
1995
Abstract Ultrasound enhances the rate of reductive cleavage of the C 6 -oxygen bond of several cis - and trans - sesquiterpene γ-enonelactones. Interestingly ultrasound overrides the stereoelectronic requirements for the reductive cleavage of the most usually occurring sesquiterpene trans -lactones.
Harmful and Protective Effects of Terpenoids from African Medicinal Plants
2014
Terpenoids represent the most widespread group of natural products and can be found in all classes of living things. Many defensive compounds include sesquiterpenoids and diterpenoids from angiosperm species. Several terpenoids are biologically active and are exploited in the fight against cancer, malaria, inflammation, and a variety of infectious diseases. Nonetheless, some compounds of this group showed toxic effects causing gastrointestinal problems or central nervous system manifestations among others. Several bioactive terpenoids were identified in African medicine with numbers of them having organ-protective effects while few are known for their nonbeneficial properties for humans. In…

New diterpenes from Sideritis sicula
1978
Abstract Two new diterpenes have been isolated from Sideritis sicula : sideripol, ent -18-acetoxy-7α-hydroxykaur-15-ene and epoxysideritriol, ent -15β,16β-epoxykauran-7α,17,18-triol. The previously known diterpene eubol, ent -7α-acetoxykaur-16-en-15β,18 diol has also been obtained from the same source.
Rearranged abietane diterpenoids from the root of teucrium polium subsp. vincentinum
1990
Abstract From the root of Teucrium polium subsp. vincentinum (Labiatae) four new rearranged abietane derivatives, teuvincenones A, B, C, and D (1-4, respectively), have been isolated. Two of these compounds, teuvincenones C (3) and D (4), possess a novel hydrocarbon skeleton which contains a cyclopropane ring constituted by the C-3, C-4, and C-18 carbons of the 17(15→16)-abeo-abietane framework. The structures of these diterpenoids were established mainly by spectroscopic means and, in the case of teuvincenones A (1) and C (3), also confirmed by X-ray diffraction analyses.

The Effect of Plant Water Status on the Chemical Composition of Pistachio Nuts (Pistacia vera L. Cultivar Bianca)
2020
Pistachio nuts are worldwide appreciated for their chemical and organoleptic profiles. There are several studies on the influence of irrigation on pistachio productivity, whereas there are little available data on the influence on nut quality. In this study we characterized some qualitative traits of pistachio nuts cultivar Bianca in Mediterranean environment and how plant water status affected them. Water status had a positive and significant influence on the chlorophylls content, nuts from less stressed trees showed higher values of chlorophyll a (14.7 mg/100 g) and b (21.1 mg/100 g) compared than more stressed trees (9.3 and 11.5 mg/100 g for a and b, respectively). Solid phase microextr…

Recognition and Civic Selection
2021
Large-scale immigration and the refugee crisis have caused many states to adapt ever stricter civic selection processes. This paper discusses the challenges arising from civic selection from the perspective of recognition theories. The argument is that recognition theories provide good conceptual tools with which to critically analyze civic selection and immigration. However, the paper also aims to highlight that many current institutional practices are problematic from the perspective of recognition. In the context of civic selection, it is helpful to understand recognition as something that comes in two analytically distinct modes: horizontal (or interpersonal) and vertical (or institutio…
