Towards student-centred pedagogy : action research with Ethiopian village school teachers

This study is an action research that was planned and implemented with 23 Ethiopian Village School teachers. The action of the four year project concentrated on developing new, student-centred teaching methods instead of traditional lecturing and rote learning in one remote school. The overall aim of the study was to follow this process and the teachers’ professional development, and to explore how the practical arrangements, such as material or cultural surroundings, constrain or enable usage of student-centred methods at the school. Micro-interactional insights from the English as a foreign language classroom

In this paper, we examine instances of the methods pupils deploy to do language policy in an English as a foreign language classroom in Sweden, where there is a locally practised English-only rule. Although we exemplify some more tacit methods of constructing a monolingual classroom (Slotte-Lüttge 2007), we focus primarily on instances where pupils police other pupils and on occasion even the teacher, when they are perceived not to be upholding the rule. Volatile compounds produced by adults of Anchomenus dorsalis under undisturbed and disturbed conditions were investigated with an all-glass aeration apparatus. GC-MS analysis of the crude extracts from undisturbed and disturbed adults highlighted four major volatile compounds, undecane, heneicosane, Z-9 tricosene and tricosane, of which significantly more undecane was released by disturbed adults compared to undisturbed beetles. Pēdējo gadu laikā oficiālos ziņojumos un masu medijos tiek bieži atspoguļots, ka Francijas un Spānijas izglītības sistēmas šodien saskaras ar vairākiem izaicinājumiem, kas saistīti ar izglītības kvalitāti. Ņemot vērā, ka abās valstīs lielākā daļa ar izglītību saistītās problēmas parādījās, sākot ar 20.gs. beigām, tika uzdots jautājums par to, kādas izglītības problēmas pēdējo gadu laikā presē ietver diskursīvos momentus. Pētījuma mērķis ir izpētīt, pielietojot diskursa analīzi, kā kopš 80.-90. gadiem ir mainījušās ar izglītību saistītās problēmas franču un spāņu presē. Lai sasniegtu šo mērķi, tika veikta salīdzinošā analīze no diahroniskā un sinhroniskā aspekta.
