Robust stabilisation of 2D state-delayed stochastic systems with randomly occurring uncertainties and nonlinearities
2013
This paper is concerned with the state feedback control problem for a class of two-dimensional (2D) discrete-time stochastic systems with time-delays, randomly occurring uncertainties and nonlinearities. Both the sector-like nonlinearities and the norm-bounded uncertainties enter into the system in random ways, and such randomly occurring uncertainties and nonlinearities obey certain mutually uncorrelated Bernoulli random binary distribution laws. Sufficient computationally tractable linear matrix inequality–based conditions are established for the 2D nonlinear stochastic time-delay systems to be asymptotically stable in the mean-square sense, and then the explicit expression of the desired…
Pētījumā piedalījās 283 respondenti (207 sievietes, 76 vīrieši) vecumā no 20 - 50 gadiem. Pētījumā tika izmantotas četras aptaujas - Bērnības traumas aptauja (Childhood Trauma Questionnaire, (CTQ), Fink, Bernstein, Handelsman, Foote, & Lovejoy, 1995), Agresijas aptauja (The Aggression Questionnaire, Buss & Perry, 1992), Č.Spīlbergera dusmu pašnovērtējuma anekta (The State Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI 2), Spielberger, 1988) un Uztvertā stresa skala (Perceived Stress Scale, (PSS),…
Fractional Derivatives in Interval Analysis
2017
In this paper, interval fractional derivatives are presented. We consider uncertainty in both the order and the argument of the fractional operator. The approach proposed takes advantage of the property of Fourier and Laplace transforms with respect to the translation operator, in order to first define integral transform of interval functions. Subsequently, the main interval fractional integrals and derivatives, such as the Riemann–Liouville, Caputo, and Riesz, are defined based on their properties with respect to integral transforms. Moreover, uncertain-but-bounded linear fractional dynamical systems, relevant in modeling fractional viscoelasticity, excited by zero-mean stationary Gaussian…
Behavioral and Neural Arguments of Motivational Influence on Decision Making During Uncertainty
2020
The scientific world is increasingly interested in motivation, primarily due to the suspected impact on decision-making abilities, particularly in uncertain conditions. To explore this plausible relationship, 28 healthy participants were included in the study and performed decision-making and motivational tasks while their neural activity was recorded. All participants performed the Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) and were split into two groups based on their score, one favorable group with 14 participants who performed advantageously and one undecided group with 14 participants who failed to develop the correct strategy on the IGT. In addition, all participants performed the Effort Expenditure fo…
Finnish model of peer-group mentoring: review of research.
2019
This article reviews research on the Finnish model of peer‐group mentoring (PGM). The theoretical foundation of the model is based on the constructivist theory of learning, the concept of autonomy in teaching profession, peer learning, and narrative identity work. The model has been disseminated nationwide in the educational sector to promote professional development of teachers and educational staff, mainly in primary and secondary education, but also in early childhood education and higher education. The thematic review is based on 46 peer‐reviewed publications about PGM in Finland in 2009–2019. Research has focused on the following main themes: (1) general aspects and characteristics of …
Corruption and Organised Crime Signalling Indicators for Foreign Investors as Applied to Eastern European Countries
2021
The former communist countries in Central and Eastern Europe and, implicitly, their economies, went through specific and sometimes asymmetric developments since the fall of the “iron curtain” at the end of the 1980s. During those years, they faced many challenges to create a secure and predictable economic environment for individuals and businesses, local or foreign. We propose a framework that considers legal, social, and economic indicators which can be used by foreign investors to make wise and efficient business decisions. Our main purpose is to expand the traditional economic analysis framework and enrich it with new institutional and societal indicators from the social, quality of lif…
A European Multi Lake Survey dataset of environmental variables, phytoplankton pigments and cyanotoxins
2018
Under ongoing climate change and increasing anthropogenic activity, which continuously challenge ecosystem resilience, an in-depth understanding of ecological processes is urgently needed. Lakes, as providers of numerous ecosystem services, face multiple stressors that threaten their functioning. Harmful cyanobacterial blooms are a persistent problem resulting from nutrient pollution and climate-change induced stressors, like poor transparency, increased water temperature and enhanced stratification. Consistency in data collection and analysis methods is necessary to achieve fully comparable datasets and for statistical validity, avoiding issues linked to disparate data sources. The Europea…
Labour Market Uncertainty and Career Perspectives: Competence in Entrepreneurship Courses
2016
Nowadays entrepreneurship is high on the agenda of many countries, and the number of entrepreneurship education initiatives is growing fast. Since the beginning of the third millennium, European Union institutions (European Commission 2003, 2009, 2010, 2013), OECD (2010) and national governments across the European Union have become increasingly involved in entrepreneurship education. The various schemes and initiatives address primarily two broad objectives, on the one hand, supporting new business start-ups and, on the other hand, developing an entrepreneurial mindset in society (and among the young in particular). For example, an international survey conducted by the European Commission …
Is Finland Different? Quality of Work Among Finnish and European Employees
2010
The issue of the quality of work-life has risen in popularity due to concerns about the economic and social sustainability of European societies. Throughout the continent, global competition, technological change and the intensification of work are common developments which are seen to affect the well-being of the workforce. Nevertheless, European countries differ substantially in terms of job quality. According to earlier research, employees in Sweden and Denmark (and to lesser extent in Finland) report a higher quality of work tasks than elsewhere in Europe. The aim of this paper was to investigate, in a cross-national context using multivariate techniques, whether job quality in Finland …
Digital ageing in Europe: a comparative analysis of Italian, Finnish and Swedish national policies on eHealth
2023
AbstractAgeing Europeans are today healthier than previous generations and often manage to live independently up to a high age. The proportion of people 80 years of age and older has increased significantly, and with high age the risk of multi-illness and dementia increases. Strong urbanisation processes have changed the demographic structure in rural areas, and young women and men have migrated towards the urban areas to study and work, while older persons have remained behind. This demographic challenge of increasing numbers of persons older than 80 years with care needs living in remote rural areas has become a major European social problem. In tackling this dilemma, many European countr…
