Migratory behaviour and holding habitats of adult river lampreys (Lampetra fluviatilis) in two Finnish rivers

The effect of environmental factors on migratory activity of adult river lampreys entering the Kalajoki and Perhonjoki, rivers in Finland, for spawning was studied using correlation and regression analyses. Telemetric tracking of 60 individuals was utilized to study the migratory patterns and holding habitat requirements of adult river lampreys. The increases in the river discharge, wind forcing towards the river mouth and speed and magnitude of river water cooling had positive effects on the numbers of lampreys entering the rivers whereas the increase in the illumination intensity of the moon had a negative effect on their migration activity. Background. Short-track speed skaters who regularly participate in training are exposed to the occurrence of asymmetry in the lower limb loading. 
 Objective. The study aimed to assess the symmetry of the lower limb loading in short track skaters and the relationship between age, training experience and anthropometric variables and symmetry of lower limb loading.
 Methods. The examined group consisted of 20 short-track speed skaters (12 men and 8 women), and the control group comprised 28 university students (14 men and 14 women). Mentalizing eye contact with a face on a video : Gaze direction does not influence autonomic arousal

Recent research has revealed enhanced autonomic and subjective responses to eye contact only when perceiving another live person. However, these enhanced responses to eye contact are abolished if the viewer believes that the other person is not able to look back at the viewer. We purported to investigate whether this “genuine” eye contact effect can be reproduced with pre‐recorded videos of stimulus persons. Measurement of transverse energy at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

We report the transverse energy (ET) measured with ALICE at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV as a function of centrality. The transverse energy was measured using identified single-particle tracks. The measurement was cross checked using the electromagnetic calorimeters and the transverse momentum distributions of identified particles previously reported by ALICE. The results are compared to theoretical models as well as to results from other experiments. The mean ET per unit pseudorapidity (η), dET/dη , in 0%–5% central collisions is 1737 ± 6(stat.) ± 97(sys.) GeV. Uno strumento virtuale per il monitoraggio e il controllo di un impianto fotovoltaico a concentrazione

In questa memoria si presenta una sintesi delle attività condotte nell'ambito del progetto SERPICO ("Sviluppo E Realizzazione di Prototipi di Inverter per impianti fotovoltaici a Concentrazione", PO-FESR Sicilia 2007-2013, Misura 4.1.1.2). Il progetto ha riguardato lo sviluppo di un prototipo di impianto fotovoltaico-termico a concentrazione e del relativo sistema di monitoraggio e controllo. Tale sistema permette di acquisire le quantità sia elettriche che termiche. Inoltre esso implementa un algoritmo per l'inseguimento solare utilizzato per ottimizzare la produzione di potenza.
