Pattern of macrovascular invasion in hepatocellular carcinoma

Background and aims: In patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), macrovascular invasion (MaVI) limits treatment options and decreases survival. Detailed data on the relationship between MaVI extension and patients' characteristics, and its impact on patients' outcome are limited. We evaluated the prevalence and extension of MaVI in a large cohort of consecutive HCC patients, analysing its association with liver disease and tumour characteristics, as well as with treatments performed and patients' survival. Regioselective Hydrogenation of a 60-Carbon Nanographene Molecule toward a Circumbiphenyl Core.

Regioselective peripheral hydrogenation of a nanographene molecule with 60 contiguous sp2 carbons provides unprecedented access to peralkylated circumbiphenyl (1). Conversion to the circumbiphenyl core structure was unambiguously validated by MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, NMR, FT-IR, and Raman spectroscopy. UV–vis absorption spectra and DFT calculations demonstrated the significant change of the optoelectronic properties upon peripheral hydrogenation. Stimulated emission from 1, observed via ultrafast transient absorption measurements, indicates potential as an optical gain material.

Dichas producciones proceden de Europa, Estados Unidos, Canadá y México. El marco metodológico general a partir del que se plantea el análisis es la iconología, entendida como Zwichenraum o tierra de confluencias. The best-characterized membrane trafficking organelles include the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), Golgi apparatus, early and recycling endosomes, multivesicular body, or late endosome, lysosome/vacuole, and plasma membrane. The present paper describes the full-scale accelerated test, carried out on asphalt pavements made up with bio-materials, especially designed to help reusing Reclaimed Asphalt (RA) by re-activating the aged binder. Four pavement sections were evaluated: three pavement sections with innovative bio-materials (bio-recycled asphalt mixtures), and a reference section with a conventional, high modulus asphalt mix (EME2). Carbonate/evaporitic sedimentation during the Messinian salinity crisis in active accretionary wedge basins of the northern Calabria, southern Italy

Abstract This work deals with Messinian deposits belonging to the Neogene infill of the Rossano and Belvedere Basins, respectively developed along the fore-arc and the back-arc areas of the north Calabria accretionary wedge. The main goal is to characterize the carbonate and evaporitic sedimentation during the Messinian Salinity Crisis, in the general framework of the basin architecture and the interplay between eustatic vs tectonic controlled sea-level variations. Reaction of aromatic compounds with bis(pyridine)iodonium(I) tetrafluoroborate (IPy2BF4) in the presence of HBF4 or CF3SO3H in CH2Cl2 at room temperature furnishes monoiodo derivatives with excellent regioselectivity and yields. Use of either acid gives comparable results with activated aromatics, whereas CF3SO3H is much more effective in the iodination of deactivated aromatics. © 1993 American Chemical Society.
