A chiral molecular conductor: synthesis, structure, and physical properties of [ET]3[Sb2(L-tart)2].CH3CN (ET = bis(ethylendithio)tetrathiafulvalene; …
2004
The salt [ET](3)[Sb(2)(L-tart)(2)].CH(3)CN (1) has been obtained by electrocrystallization of the organic donor bis(ethylendithio)tetrathiafulvalene (ET or BEDT-TTF) in the presence of the chiral anionic complex [Sb(2)(L-tart)(2)](2-) (L-tart = (2R,3R)-(+)-tartrate). This salt crystallizes in the chiral space group P2(1)2(1)2(1) (a = 11.145(2) angstroms, b = 12.848(2) angstroms, c = 40.159(14) angstroms, V = 5750.4(14) angstroms(3), Z = 4) and is formed by alternating layers of the anions and of the organic radicals in a noncentrosymmetric alpha-type packing. This compound shows a room temperature electrical conductivity of approximately 1 S.cm(-1) and semiconducting behavior with an activa…
Synthesis, characterization, and complexation of tetraarylborates with aromatic cations and their use in chemical sensors.
2005
Five aromatic borate anions, namely tetrakis(4-phenoxyphenyl)borate (1), tetrakis(biphenyl)borate (2), tetrakis(2-naphthyl)borate (3), tetrakis(4-phenylphenol)borate (4), and tetrakis(4-phenoxy)borate (5), have been prepared and tested as ion-recognition sites in chemical sensors for certain aromatic cations and metal ions. To gain further insight into the complexation of the cations, some complexes have been prepared and structurally characterized. The complexation behavior of 1 and 2 towards N-methylpyridinium (6), 1-ethyl-4-(methoxycarbonyl)pyridinium (7), tropylium (8), imidazolium (9), and 1-methylimidazolium (10) cations has been studied, and the stability constants of the complexes o…
Über die Verbreitung von Flavonoiden bei pleurokarpen Laubmoosen II. Apigenin and Apigenin-7-rhamnoglucosid bei Pleurozium schreberi (Willd.) Mitt.
1980
Summary 12 species of pleurocarpous mosses have been investigated as to their content of flavonoids. Flavonoid tests on 11 species have given negative results. Only one species, Pleurozium schreberi , contains three flavonoids. They were purified by means of paper chromatography. Two of them are by chromatography, acid hydrolysis and absorption spectrum identical with apigenin and apigenin-7-rhamnoglucoside. The third flavonoid is as yet unidentified. Qualitative hydrolysis yields apigenin. The chemotaxonomic importance of the results is briefly discussed.
High-Performance Electron-Transporting Polymers Derived from a Heteroaryl Bis(trifluoroborate)
2011
In this communication, we report that dipotassium aryl bis(trifluoroborate)s make stable and easy-to-purify yet reactive monomers under Suzuki polycondensation reactions. A bis(trifluoroborate) of 2-alkylbenzotriazole was prepared successfully and copolymerized with dibromobenzothiadiazole in the presence of a Pd catalyst and LiOH, yielding high molecular weight conjugated polymers. This polymer (P1) composed of all electron-accepting units shows excellent electron-transport properties (μ(e) = 0.02 cm(2) V(-1) s(-1)), which proves the value of the aryl bis(trifluoroborate) monomers and suggests that many other types of semiconducting polymers that could not be accessed previously can be syn…
o-Boronato- and o-Trifluoroborato-Phosphonium Salts Supported by L-α-Amino Acid Side Chain.
2015
The synthesis of o-boronato- and o-trifluoroborato-phosphonium salts supported by the L-amino acid side chain is described. The synthesis of these new class of amino acid derivatives was achieved by stereoselective quaternization of o-(pinacolato)boronatophenylphosphine with β- or γ-iodo amino acid derivatives which are prepared from L-serine or L-aspartic acid, respectively. The quaternization of the phosphine was performed using either iodo amino ester or carboxylic acid derivatives. In addition, free carboxylic acid and amine derivatives were obtained by saponification or HCl acidolysis of o-boronato-phosphonium amino esters, respectively. The usefulness of these compounds in peptide cou…
Carbohydrate nanocarriers in biomedical applications: functionalization and construction
2015
The specific targeting of either tumor cells or immune cells in vivo by carefully designed and appropriately surface-functionalized nanocarriers may become an effective therapeutic treatment for a variety of diseases. Carbohydrates, which are prominent biomolecules, have shown their outstanding ability in balancing the biocompatibility, stability, biodegradability, and functionality of nanocarriers. The recent applications of sugar (mono/oligosaccharides and/or polysaccharides) for the development of nanomedicines are summarized in this review, including the application of carbohydrates for the surface-functionalization of various nanocarriers and for the construction of the nanocarrier its…
Total Synthesis of a Partial Structure from Arabinogalactan and Its Application for Allergy Prevention
2020
Abstract Arabinogalactan, a microheterogeneous polysaccharide occurring in plants, is known for its allergy‐protective activity, which could potentially be used for preventive allergy treatment. New treatment options are highly desirable, especially in a preventive manner, due to the constant rise of atopic diseases worldwide. The structural origin of the allergy‐protective activity of arabinogalactan is, however, still unclear and isolation of the polysaccharide is not feasible for pharmaceutical applications due to a variation of the activity of the natural product and contaminations with endotoxins. Therefore, a pentasaccharide partial structure was selected for total synthesis and subse…
Cyclodextrin-assisted Glycan Chain Extension on a Protected Glycosyl Amino Acid
2000
By the use of cyclodextrins, we have enhanced the solubility of the protected amino acid glycan Fmoc-Thr(GalNAcα1)-OtBu (1b) up to 100-fold. This improvement enabled us to carry out an enzymatic glycosylation employing a β-galactosidase in combination with an α2,3-sialyltransferase without the aid of organic cosolvents. After optimization of the one-pot reaction, the sialylated core 1 structure Fmoc-Thr[Neu5Ac(α2-3)Gal(β1-3)GalNAcα1]-OtBu (3b) could be obtained with 50% yield.
Structure analysis of acetylated and non-acetylated O-linked MUC1-glycopeptides by post-source decay matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass…
1997
We have investigated the potential of structural elucidation of O-linked glycopeptides by post-source decay matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry (PSD-MALDI-MS). In order to establish detailed fragmentation patterns and to dissect fragment ions with and without carbohydrate content, the same O-linked MUC1-derived glycopeptides with acetylated and non-acetylated sugars were analysed and compared. Furthermore, we were interested to examine possible differences in the fragmentation between glycopeptides with acetylated and non-acetylated sugars. The obtained PSD-MALDI-MS spectra showed a rather complete set of fragmentation data which allows us to localize the glycan on…
Role of glycosylation in the incorporation of intrinsic mannoproteins into cell walls of Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
1989
Cell wall mannoproteins from Saccharomyces cerevisiae are completely or partially incorporated into their final location when N-glycosylation is inhibited by tunicamycin. These include a 90–100 kDa species still containing O-linked oligomannose chains, derived from a N-glycosylated material larger than 120 kDa; and a 30.5 kDa peptide lacking mannose residues, derived from a 33 kDa species. For both species, the growth temperature influences the level of incorporation of the non N-glycosylated molecules. Secretion of the peptides lacking N-linked saccharide chains follows the route defined by sec mutants.
