Effect of Software on CSP Performance

In order to verify how (if at all) CSP's investments in software affect their business performance, the relationship between (i) CSP's spending on software and (ii) its key performance indicators (KPIs) is considered below. The investments in software are represented by internal, external, and total software spending a year or two years prior to the KPI values, while the KPIs include average revenue per user (ARPU), revenue, net income, EBIDTA, and change in revenue (as an indicator of company growth). Sensitivity of external resources to cash flow under financial constraints

Abstract This paper explores the external financing–cash flow relationship in capital structure theory by comparing unlisted (financially constrained) and listed (financially unconstrained) companies. We postulate that investment is determined endogenously in the case of unlisted firms, as they are strongly dependent on internally generated funds (cash flow). Consequently, unlisted firms invest their cash flow in profitable projects, using any residual cash flow to increase their holdings of safe assets. In turn, listed companies determine their investment exogenously and may reduce leverage if they raise an excess of cash flow. As a result, listed companies would react more negatively to s…
Formation of magnetoconvection by photoabsorptive methods in ferrofluid layers

Abstract A periodic concentration grating was induced in a layer of ferrofluid by photoabsorption and thermophoresis under the action of the applied uniform magnetic field. The application of the external field causes the appearance of an internal demagnetizing field within the layer and of magnetic forces due to the non-uniform distribution of concentration. The induced magnetic forces cause the appearance of parasitic microconvection within the layer. The experimental observations of the formation stage of the grating are interpreted to explain magnetoconvection, making use of numerical simulations.
Assessing the impact of operating lease capitalization with dynamic Monte Carlo simulation

Abstract The European Commission has recently adopted a new accounting standard for leases that will be implemented in 2019, which requires operating lease contracts to be included in the balance sheet, affecting key ratios, leverage and profitability. We simulate the impact of IFRS 16 using Monte Carlo method, which incorporates the uncertainty of the future value of variables when making predictions. Unlike prior studies based on historical data, our study considers a five-year forecast horizon and, more importantly, contemplates several probable scenarios. Photoinduced mass transport in amorphous As‐S‐Se films

Direct surface patterning due to photoinduced mass transport in amorphous As-S-Se films has been studied. Illumination of the films with two orthogonally (±45°) polarized beam interference pattern causes the formation of surface relief gratings on the films due to lateral mass transport regarding to light propagation direction. The obtained experimental results showed the dependence of photoinduced surface relief depth (Δh) on film thickness during holographic recording from film side as well as from glass substrate side. Photoinduced mass transfer in amorphous As 2 S 3 films

The surface relief grating formation in amorphous As2S3 films strongly depends on the polarization state of recording beams. The surface relief grating formation efficiency of s-s and p-p recording beam combination can be essentially enhanced by additional illumination with orthogonal polarization. In vitro carious lesion detection on D-, E-, and F-speed radiographic films

Abstract Objectives To compare the accuracy in detection of interproximal natural carious lesions in vitro between Ultraspeed (D), Ektaspeed Plus (E), and Insight (F) radiographic films. Study design Ten observers indicated on a 5-point scale their confidence in detecting an interproximal lesion in 240 surfaces (120 extracted teeth) with noncavitated carious lesions. Truth was assessed microscopically from hemisections. The areas (Az) beneath receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were pairwise compared and used for a 2-way analysis of variance. Abstract The aim of the present study was to analyze the relationship between students' (100 children aged 8 to 12) help-seeking behavior and impulsivity. Help-seeking behavior was evaluated using a naturalistic experimental paradigm in which children were placed in a problem-solving situation and had the opportunity to seek help from the experimenter, if needed. Abstract One of challenges in improving the performance and cost-effectiveness of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) is the development of suitable interconnect materials.
