The ionic tin(IV) complex tri-μ2-methoxy-μ3-oxo-tris[di-tert-butyltin(IV)] tri-μ2-methoxy-bis[tert-butyldimethoxystannate(IV)]

2004

The solid-state of the title compound, [Sn3(C4H9)6(CH3O)3O][Sn2(C4H9)2(CH3O)7], consists of distinct [tBu6Sn3(μ-OCH3)3(μ3-O)]+ cations and [tBu2Sn2(OCH3)4(μ-OCH3)3]− anions, apparently formed as a result of slow hydrolysis of pure di(tert-butyl)dimethoxystannane, tBu2Sn(OCH3)2. In the monocation, the coordination about the Sn atoms is distorted trigonal bipyramidal, and, in the monoanion, distorted octahedral. The trigonal bipyramidal arrangement induces planarity of the Sn3O4 motif.

ChemInform Abstract: Aldol Reactions with Erythrulose Derivatives: Stereoselective Synthesis of Differentially Protected syn-α,β-Dihydroxy Esters.

2010

Boron enolates of 1-O-silylated erythrulose 3,4-acetonides prepared with Brown's chloro-dicyclohexylborane/tertiary amine system have been shown to react with achiral aldehydes in a highly stereoselective way to yield a 1,2-syn/1,3-syn stereoisomer. Through oxidative cleavage of the aldol adducts with periodic acid hydrate, enantiopure syn-α,β-dihydroxy esters with either hydroxyl group differently protected have been prepared. These erythrulose derivatives therefore behave as a chiral hydroxy acetate (glycolate) enolate equivalent.

Kemp elimination: a probe reaction to study ionic liquids properties.

2008

The amino induced elimination of benzisoxazole into the relevant o-cyanophenolate ion (Kemp elimination) has been studied in [bmim][BF 4] solution at 298 K. To have information about the interactions between reactants and ionic liquid, the reaction has been carried out at different temperatures (293-313 K). Several primary, secondary, and tertiary amines have been used to study the effect of amine structure on the reaction rate. The collected data show that the amine structure seems to have a crucial role in determining the reaction rate. Furthermore, as different cation or anion structures of an ionic liquid can significantly affect its properties, the title reaction has been performed in …

The gut as reservoir of antibiotic resistance: microbial diversity of tetracycline resistance in mother and infant.

2011

The microbiota in the human gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is highly exposed to antibiotics, and may be an important reservoir of resistant strains and transferable resistance genes. Maternal GIT strains can be transmitted to the offspring, and resistances could be acquired from birth. This is a case study using a metagenomic approach to determine the diversity of microorganisms conferring tetracycline resistance (Tc(r)) in the guts of a healthy mother-infant pair one month after childbirth, and to investigate the potential for horizontal transfer and maternal transmission of Tc(r) genes. Fecal fosmid libraries were functionally screened for Tc(r), and further PCR-screened for specific Tc(r) …

Comparative studies of the Pschorr reaction in the pyrazole series. Access to the new dibenzo[e,g]pyrazolo[1,5-a][1,3]diazocine system of pharmaceuti…

2008

The diazonium tetrafluoroborate 11 obtained from 2-amino-N-methyl-N-(1-phenyl-3- methylpyrazol-5-yl)benzamide was transformed in dry acetonitrile via an ionic or radical pathway. Differences were observed with respect to ionic or radical transformations in aqueous media of the analogous diazonium hydrogen sulfate 1 derived from the same amine. In acetonitrile solution, the ionic pathway was characterized by an increased yield of 1,4-dimethyl- 3-phenyl-pyrazolo(3,4-c)isoquinolin-5-one 4 and by the formation of its isomer, the new derivative 7,9-dimethyldibenzo(e,g)pyrazolo(1,5-a)(1,3)diazocin-10(9H)-one 12. When the reaction followed a radical pathway, the pyrazolo(3,4-c)isoquinoline derivat…

Ionic liquid binary mixtures: How different factors contribute to determine their effect on the reactivity

2016

We studied how mixing ionic liquids affected the rate of the Diels Alder reaction between 9-anthracenemethanol and N-ethylmaleimide. The mixtures considered spanned the whole compositional range and differed for the anion or the cation. These comprised mixtures of the ionic liquid 1-benzyl-3-butyl-imidazolium bis-(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([Bzbim][NTf2]) with 1-(2,3,4,5,6-pentafluorophenyl)-3-butyl-imidazolium bis-(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide ([Bz(F5)bim][NTf2]) or 1-benzyl-3-butyl-imidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([Bzbim][BF4]). Moreover we studied the reaction in a set of mixtures containing an aliphatic and an aromatic cation, namely [Bzbim+] and N-butyltriethylammonium ([bEt3N+]) …

Phenylation of cationic allylpalladium(II) complexes by tetraphenylborate anion. A mechanistic study

1990

Abstract The mechanism of the reaction of allyl complexes [Pd(η3-2-R′C3H4)(NN′)]+ (NN′ = α-diimine ligand) wiht BPh4− in the presence of activated olefins (ol), yielding the products [Pd(η2-ol)(NN′)] and PhCH2C(R′)CH2, has been investigated. The results are interpreted in terms of extensive association between the cationic substrate and the BPh4− anion in a tight ion-pair, followed by rate-determining phenyl transfer to the palladium center and fast reductive elimination of allylbenzene.

Modulation of intracellular calcium concentrations and T cell activation by prickly pear polyphenols.

2004

Opuntia ficus indica (prickly pear) polyphenolic compounds (OFPC) triggered an increase in [Ca2+]i in human Jurkat T-cell lines. Furthermore, OFPC-induced rise in [Ca2+]i was significantly curtailed in calcium-free buffer (0% Ca2+) as compared to that in 100% Ca2+ medium. Preincubation of cells with tyrphostin A9, an inhibitor of Ca2+ release-activated Ca2+ (CRAC) channels, significantly diminished the OFPC-induced sustained response on the increases in [Ca2+]i. Lanthanum and nifedipine, the respective inhibitors of voltage-dependent and L-type calcium channels, failed to curtail significantly the OFPC-induced calcium response. As OFPC still stimulated increases in [Ca2+]i in 0% Ca2+ medium…

Modeling of the catalytic effects of potassium and calcium on spruce wood gasification in CO2

2016

Abstract Using previously reported thermogravimetric analysis measurements, the effects of calcium and potassium on the char gasification rate of spruce wood were modeled. Spruce wood was leached of inorganic ash elements and doped with measured amounts of potassium and calcium. The wood was gasified in an isothermal thermogravimetric analysis device in CO 2 where the devolatilization of the wood, char formation and char gasification all occurred inside the preheated reactor. A new method for separating the effects of devolatilization and char gasification is presented. Kinetic models were evaluated for their ability to describe the observed catalytic effects of potassium and calcium on the…
