The aim of this study was to compare the impact of induced bleeding complication training with regular training on a virtual reality laparoscopic (VRL) simulator. Although bleeding complications occur rarely during laparoscopic surgery, they usually arise without warning and may have severe consequences for the patient because complication management training is not currently widespread. This paper addresses the ways in which linguistic heteroglossia is mobilized to construct participation in a youth cultural community of practice. The analysis focuses on spoken interaction among Christian snowboarders in Finland, and specifically on how the community members create social meanings by using their shared linguistic resources (e.g. religious register or snowboarding terminology). In this article I will scrutinize Screen (2002, by WARDRIP-FRUIN & al.), a literary work set and experienced in a CAVE Virtual Reality environment, especially from the perspective of its temporal aspects.
