Reliability and validity of the Finnish version of the motor observation questionnaire for teachers.

2017

Objectives: Observational screening instruments are often used as an effective, economical first step in the identification of children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). The aim was to investigate the psychometric properties of the Finnish version of the Motor Observation Questionnaire for Teachers (MOQ-T-FI).Methods: The psychometric properties were tested using two separate samples (S1: age range 6-12, M 9y 5mo, females 101, males 92; S2: age range 6-9, M 7y 7mo, females 404, males 446). Teachers completed the MOQ-T-Fl in both samples, and in sample 2 teachers' ratings were compared to student's performance on the Movement Assessment Battery for Children-Second Edition (MABC…

18F-Florbetaben PET/CT to Assess Alzheimer's Disease: A new Analysis Method for Regional Amyloid Quantification.

2019

Background and purpose While AD can be definitively confirmed by postmortem histopathologic examination, in vivo imaging may improve the clinician's ability to identify AD at the earliest stage. The aim of the study was to test the performance of amyloid PET using new processing imaging algorithm for more precise diagnosis of AD. Methods Amyloid PET results using a new processing imaging algorithm (MRI-Less and AAL Atlas) were correlated with clinical, cognitive status, CSF analysis, and other imaging. The regional SUVR using the white matter of cerebellum as reference region and scores from clinical and cognitive tests were used to create ROC curves. Leave-one-out cross-validation was carr…

Children's eating attitudes test: Validation in a sample of Spanish schoolchildren

2010

Objective: To validate the Spanish version of the Children's Eating Attitudes Test (ChEAT). Method: The factor structure and other psychometric characteristics of the questionnaire were examined using the answers of 38,554 schoolchildren. Diagnostic efficiency was based on a standardized clinical interview of 968 schoolchildren who had previously completed the questionnaire. Results: Five factors (“preoccupation with thinness,” “dieting,” “social pressure to eat,” “purging,” and “preoccupation with food and oral control”) explained 46% of the variance. Cronbach's α was .858 for the total scale. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was .851. Sensitivity (SE) was 27% and…

Diagnostic utility of hippocampal size and mean diffusivity in amnestic MCI

2007

Hippocampus atrophy is a frequent finding in mild cognitive impairment (MCI), whereas diffusion-tensor-imaging (DTI) has demonstrated its value to detect subtle brain tissue changes in several neuropsychiatric diseases including MCI. To compare the diagnostic accuracy of both methods, high resolution MRI scans for hippocampus volumetry, and co-registered DTI-scans for ROI-based mean diffusivity (MD) and fractional anisotropy (FA) were carried out in 18 patients with amnestic MCI (7 females, age 67.3+/-8.7 years, MMSE 25.2+/-2.2) and 18 controls (age 66.9+/-9.0 years, MMSE 28.7+/-1.0). Diagnostic properties of normalized hippocampus volume (HV) and DTI measures with regard to MCI status were…

The risk factor age in normotensive patients with pulmonary embolism: Effectiveness of age in predicting submassive pulmonary embolism, cardiac injur…

2015

Abstract Introduction Right ventricular dysfunction (RVD), submassive pulmonary embolism (PE), elevated systolic pulmonary artery pressure (sPAP), elevated cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and old age are well-known risk factors for poor outcome in acute normotensive PE. The aim of this analysis was to calculate age cut-off values to predict submassive PE, cardiac injury, RVD and elevated sPAP in normotensive PE patients. Methods Retrospective analysis of clinical, laboratory, radiological and echocardiographic data of normotensive PE patients (2006–2011) was performed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and Youden indexes were used to test the effectiveness of using patients' ages at …

Troponin I Assay for Identification of a Significant Coronary Stenosis in Patients with Suspected Acute Myocardial Infarction and Wide QRS Complex

2016

Background Common ECG criteria such as ST-segment changes are of limited value in patients with suspected acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and bundle branch block or wide QRS complex. A large proportion of these patients do not suffer from an AMI, whereas those with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) equivalent AMI benefit from an aggressive treatment. Aim of the present study was to evaluate the diagnostic information of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in hemodynamically stable patients with wide QRS complex and suspected AMI. Methods In 417 out of 1818 patients presenting consecutively between 01/2007 and 12/2008 in a prospective multicenter observational study with suspected AMI a pro…

Diagnosis of sclerosing cholangitis in children: blinded, comparative study of magnetic resonance versus endoscopic cholangiography.

2013

Summary Background Magnetic resonance cholangiography (MRC) has been validated as comparable to endoscopic retrograde cholangiography (ERC) for the diagnosis of sclerosing cholangitis (SC) in adult patients. In children, MRC is widely used based mainly on non-comparative studies. Patients and methods ERCs and MRCs of seven children (median age 9, range: 7–20 years) with SC and 17 controls (median age 6, range: 2 months–20 years) with other chronic liver diseases were reviewed in a blinded, random and independent way. All patients underwent both examinations within a 6-months slot. All ERCs and 17 MRCs were performed under general anesthesia. One radiologist evaluated both ERCs and MRCs and …

Developing and validating a novel multisource comorbidity score from administrative data: a large population-based cohort study from Italy

2017

ObjectiveTo develop and validate a novel comorbidity score (multisource comorbidity score (MCS)) predictive of mortality, hospital admissions and healthcare costs using multiple source information from the administrative Italian National Health System (NHS) databases.MethodsAn index of 34 variables (measured from inpatient diagnoses and outpatient drug prescriptions within 2 years before baseline) independently predicting 1-year mortality in a sample of 500 000 individuals aged 50 years or older randomly selected from the NHS beneficiaries of the Italian region of Lombardy (training set) was developed. The corresponding weights were assigned from the regression coefficients of a Weibull sur…

Therapeutic Drug Monitoring for Patients With Alzheimer Dementia to Improve Treatment With Donepezil

2015

BACKGROUND Aiming to verify that therapeutic drug monitoring has the potential to optimize treatment with acetylcholine esterase inhibitors of patients with Alzheimer dementia, this study investigated whether serum concentrations of donepezil are associated with clinical improvement. METHODS Clinical improvement was measured using the clinical global impression (CGI) scale, and donepezil concentrations were measured in serum by a high-performance liquid chromatographic method with spectrophotometric detection. RESULTS In total, 206 serum samples from 106 patients (49.5% female) were retrospectively available for analysis. Patients included were treated under everyday conditions. Their mean …

Frailty and other geriatric conditions for risk stratification of older patients with acute coronary syndrome

2014

Background Geriatric conditions may predict outcomes beyond age and standard risk factors. Our aim was to investigate a wide spectrum of geriatric conditions in survivors after an acute coronary syndrome. Methods A total of 342 patients older than 65 years were included. At hospital discharge, 5 geriatric conditions were evaluated: frailty (Fried and Green scores), physical disability (Barthel index), instrumental disability (Lawton-Brody scale), cognitive impairment (Pfeiffer questionnaire), and comorbidity (Charlson and simple comorbidity indexes). The outcomes were postdischarge mortality and the composite of death/myocardial infarction during a 30-month median follow-up. Results Seventy…
