La obra de Galdós en las traducciones italianas

2020

From the translation of Marianela (1880), the Italian reception of the works of Benito Pérez Galdós through translations does not present a very satisfactory situation, but rather uneven, especially if we take into account the production of contemporary translations to the Canarian writer or in the decades immediately after his disappearance, with some emblematic cases of manipulation with a very partial and censored translation such as that of Fortunata e Giacinta (1926), framed in the Fascist Ventennio, although it was the first translation into a foreign language of the Galdosian masterpiece. This study aims to recover and organize the panorama of translations into Italian of Galdós's na…

El mito de Icario en la General estoria de Alfonso X

2013

This article studies the myth of Icarus as it is translated in the first part of Alfonso X's General estoria. Its analysis highlights aspects that are usually found in the mythographical episodes of the Alfonsine estoria, particularly linked with its possible sources and its internal characteristics. The latter ones are defined by the anonymity of the quote and an evident moral intention. Regarding the sources, if it is known that the mythography gets to the Alfonsine text through two paths, the gloss in the manuscripts and a mythographical work, the exact source or sources used by Alfonsine historians are still unidentified. I have begun searching where the elements that are found in no pr…

2019

PurposeThis paper focuses on how gendered processes of working life are (re)constructed and are also challenged discursively in paid and volunteer care and work in reception centers. Brian Friel in Spain: An Off-Centre Love Story

2021

Spanish theatres are not prolific in the staging of Irish playwrights. However, the Northern Irish writer Brian Friel (1929-2015) has been a curious exception, his plays having been performed in different cities in Spain since William Layton produced Amantes: vencedores y vencidos (Lovers: Winners and Losers) in 1972. The origin of Friel's popularity in this country may be attributed to what many theatre directors and audiences considered to be a parallel political situation between post-colonial Ireland and the historical peripheral communities with a language other than Spanish: Catalonia, the Basque Country and Galicia; the fact is that the number of Catalan directors who have staged wor…

Towards a tanslatological study of multilinguism : translating the insertion of dialect within contemporary Italian narrative into French

2015

This PhD thesis examines Italian contemporary literary works (novels and short stories) in which dialect is used as a linguistic variety in combination with the national Italian idiom. The analysis is conducted through the works of four Italian writers, in which multilingualism is particularly significant: Andrea Camilleri, Salvatore Niffoi, Laura Pariani and Andrej Longo. Taking into account the complex linguistic situation of Italy, the thesis focuses on the translation of these works characterized by the co-existence of two different linguistic systems. Through an examination of the colourful mixture of linguistic varieties and the function of dialect in these contemporary texts, the the…

Approximation of Measurement Results of “Emergency” Signal Reception Probability

2017

Abstract The intended aim of this article is to present approximation results of the exemplary measurements of EMERGENCY signal reception probability. The probability is under-stood as a distance function between the aircraft and a ground-based system under established conditions. The measurements were approximated using the properties of logistic functions. This probability, as a distance function, enables to determine the range of the EMERGENCY signal for a pre-set confidence level.
