An Input Observer-Based Stiffness Estimation Approach for Flexible Robot Joints

This letter addresses the stiffness estimation problem for flexible robot joints, driven by variable stiffness actuators in antagonistic setups. Due to the difficulties of achieving consistent production of these actuators and the time-varying nature of their internal flexible elements, which are subject to plastic deformation over time, it is currently a challenge to precisely determine the total flexibility torque applied to a robot's joint and the corresponding joint stiffness. JOINT TOPOLOGY LEARNING AND GRAPH SIGNAL RECOVERY VIA KALMAN FILTER IN CAUSAL DATA PROCESSES

In this paper, a joint graph-signal recovery approach is investigated when we have a set of noisy graph signals generated based on a causal graph process. By leveraging the Kalman filter framework, a three steps iterative algorithm is utilized to predict and update signal estimation as well as graph topology learning, called Topological Kalman Filter or TKF. Diabetic thoracic radiculopathy: a case of a young woman with clinical improvement following immunotherapy.

Thoracic radiculopathy is a rare cause of thoracic-abdominal or abdominal pain in subjects with poorly controlled diabetes. We present a case of a young woman with type I diabetes and a severe abdominal pain in both lower quadrants. An extensive diagnostic gastroenterological and gynaecological workup did not disclose abnormalities. Electromyography revealed an initial polyneuropathy and significant neurogenic abnormalities in the T10-T12 paravertebral muscles. [EN] An anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) pilot plant treating kitchen food waste (FW) jointly with urban wastewater was run for 536 days. Different operational conditions were tested varying the sludge retention time (SRT), the hydraulic retention time (HRT) and the penetration factor (PF) of food waste disposers. COD removal efficiency exceeded 90% in all tested conditions. The joint treatment resulted in an almost 3-fold increase in methane production (at 70 days of SRT, 24 h HRT and 80% PF) in comparison with the treatment of urban wastewater only. Double-exponential kinetics of binding and redistribution of the fluorescent dyes in cell membranes witness for the existence of lipid microdomains.

Abstract New technique of detecting lateral heterogeneity of the plasma membrane of living cells by means of membrane-binding fluorescent dyes is proposed. The kinetics of dye incorporation into the membrane or its lateral diffusion inside the membrane is measured and decomposed into exponential components by means of the Maximum Entropy Method.
