A Non-normal-Mode Marginal State of Convection in a Porous Rectangle

2019

Author's accepted manuscript (postprint). This is a post-peer-review, pre-copyedit version of an article published in Transport in Porous Media. The final authenticated version is available online at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11242-019-01263-5. The fourth-order Darcy–Bénard eigenvalue problem for onset of thermal convection in a 2D rectangular porous box is investigated. The conventional type of solution has normal-mode dependency in at least one of the two spatial directions. The present eigenfunctions are of non-normal-mode type in both the horizontal and the vertical direction. A numerical solution is found by the finite element method, since no analytical method is known for this non-…

Cantor Dust Zone Plates

2013

In this paper we use the Cantor Dust to design zone plates based on a two-dimensional fractal for the first time. The pupil function that defines the coined Cantor Dust Zone Plates (CDZPs) can be written as a combination of rectangle functions. Thus CDZPs can be considered as photon sieves with rectangular holes. The axial irradiances produced by CDZPs of different fractal orders are obtained analitically and experimentally, analyzing the influence of the fractality. The transverse irradiance patterns generated by this kind of zone plates has been also investigated.

Real-time flaw detection on complex part: Study of SVM and hyperrectangle based method

2002

We present in this paper the study of two classifications methods used in order to control in real-time some industrials parts. We present the practical frame in which is made the operations, natures of the anomaly to be detected as well as the features extractions method. We tested two techniques of classification, with different algorithm complexities and performances. We compare the results obtained on various features spaces. We end by a combinatorial perspective of results of classification.

Systems of quasilinear elliptic equations with dependence on the gradient via subsolution-supersolution method

2017

For the homogeneous Dirichlet problem involving a system of equations driven by \begin{document}$(p,q)$\end{document} -Laplacian operators and general gradient dependence we prove the existence of solutions in the ordered rectangle determined by a subsolution-supersolution. This extends the preceding results based on the method of subsolution-supersolution for systems of elliptic equations. Positive and negative solutions are obtained.

CONSIDERAZIONI TEORICHE E PRATICHE SUL METODO DEL MASSIMO RETTANGOLO CIRCOSCRITTO PER LA VALUTAZIONE DELL’AMPIEZZA DELLA TENSIONE TANGENZIALE NEI CRI…

2012

The multiaxial fatigue criteria based on the approach of the critical plane require the determination of the amplitude of the alternating shear stress τ aacting on different planes passing through the point of the material analyzed. In the case of non-proportional stresses the shear stress vector varies both in modulus and direction and its tip describes a curvedefined loading path. In these cases τ ais identified and evaluated by means of special procedures the most recent, and apparently more effective, of which is that of the Maximum Circumscribed Rectangle (MCR) to the loading path itself. In particular τ ais equal to the length of the diagonal of the MCR. In this paper, the MCR method …

Scheduling under the network of temporo-spatial proximity relationships

2017

We discuss and introduce to the schedulingeld a novel, qualitative optimization model - scheduling under the network of temporo-spatial proximity relationships. We introduce a half perimeter proximity measure as an objective of scheduling. We present and evaluate an incremental Sequence Pair neighborhood evaluation algorithm, applicable to both scheduling and rectangle packing problems in VLSI industry. In this paper, we discuss and introduce to the scheduling field a novel optimization objective - half perimeter proximity measure in scheduling under the network of temporo-spatial proximity relationships. The presented approach enables to qualitatively express various reasons of scheduling ce…
