Palladium Supported on Cross-Linked Imidazolium Network on Silica as Highly Sustainable Catalysts for the Suzuki Reaction under Flow Conditions

2013

Highly cross-linked imidazolium-based materials, obtained by radical oligomerization of bis-vinylimidazolium salts in the presence of 3-mercaptopropyl-modified silica gel, were used as supports for palladium catalysts. Thanks to the high imidazolium loading these materials were able to support a high amount of the metal (10 wt%). Such materials were characterized by several techniques (13C magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance, the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller technique, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy). The palladium catalysts displayed good activity allowing the synthesis of several biphenyl compounds in high yields working with only 0.1 mol% of …

Recycling of plastics from packaging

1997

Plastic waste coming from the separate collection of packaging film was recycled and characterized. The material is a blend of low density and linear low density polyethylene and after recycling shows mechanical and rheological properties depending on the processing conditions and apparatus. High processing temperature and high residence times strongly enhance the degradation processes and reduce the mechanical properties, in particular the elongation at break. A possible use of this recycled plastic is for the production of low pressure pipes but the properties are lower than those of virgin pipe grade polyethylene. By introducing additives, like antioxidants, inert fillers and impact modi…

Bio materials with reclaimed asphalt: from lab mixes properties to non-damaged full scale monitoring and mechanical simulation

2019

Three innovative environmentally friendly pavement materials, designed with 50% of Reclaimed Asphalt and three different biomaterials (2 bio-additivated bitumens and 1 bio-binder), were produced in an industrial plant. These mixes were tested in lab and also at full scale using an Accelerated Pavement Test facility. The asphalt mix viscoelastic properties were measured in lab and their intrinsic viscoelastic response were simulated. These rheological models are used to simulate the pavement mechanical response using both elastic and viscoelastic multilayer codes. Hence, full scale measurement performed during the full scale test at an early stage (without damages) can be compared with these…

In situ quantification of the nitrogen content of olivine-hosted melt inclusions from Klyuchevskoy volcano (Kamchatka): Implications for nitrogen rec…

2021

International audience; Assessing the N content of arc magmas and their mantle source remains a challenge because the volatile element composition of melts and gases can be modified during magma ascent, storage, and eruption. Given that melt inclusions (MIs) in Mg-rich olivine represent the best proxies for primary arc melts, we applied, for the first time, an in situ high-resolution secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) method to determine the N concentration in olivine-hosted MIs from Klyuchevskoy volcano in Kamchatka. To reverse the effects of post-entrapment modification processes (i.e., exsolution of volatiles into a fluid bubble), the MIs were partially to completely homogenized at h…

Elaboration et caractérisation d’une structure composite (sable et déchets plastiques recyclés) : Amélioration de la résistance par des charges en ar…

2018

This project aims at conceiving(designing) one paves with plastic waste got back in the discharges and with mixture of sand and gravel. This pavement that must be of use to the realization of pavements and public highways, must thus be capable of answering the technical conditions of its use. However, the fabrication method and the used material(equipment) must be rather simple to allow its fast handling by little qualified workers and a low(weak) production cost to be economically competitive. Pavements will thus be tested to identify their performance at the same time mechanical and physical then used on life-size to understand(include) their ageing because of their wear. Finally, an equi…

Recycling of 3He from lung magnetic resonance imaging

2011

We have developed the means to recycle 3He exhaled by patients after imaging the lungs using magnetic resonance of hyperpolarized 3He. The exhaled gas is collected in a helium leak proof bag and further compressed into a steel bottle. The collected gas contains about 1–2% of 3He, depending on the amount administered and the number of breaths collected to wash out the 3He gas from the lungs. 3He is separated from the exhaled air using zeolite molecular sieve adsorbent at 77 K followed by a cold head at 8 K. Residual gaseous impurities are finally absorbed by a commercial nonevaporative getter. The recycled 3He gas features high purity, which is required for repolarization by metastability ex…

Energy and environmental assessment of a traction lithium-ion battery pack for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles

2019

Abstract Traction batteries are a key factor in the environmental sustainability of electric mobility and, therefore, it is necessary to evaluate their environmental performance to allow a comprehensive sustainability assessment of electric mobility. This article presents an environmental assessment of a lithium-ion traction battery for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, characterized by a composite cathode material of lithium manganese oxide (LiMn2O4) and lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide Li(NixCoyMn1-x-y)O2. Composite cathode material is an emerging technology that promises to combine the merits of several active materials into a hybrid electrode to optimize performance and reduce cost…

Synaptic vesicle alterations in rod photoreceptors of synaptophysin-deficient mice.

2001

Abstract The abundance of the integral membrane protein synaptophysin in synaptic vesicles and its multiple possible functional contributions to transmitter exocytosis and synaptic vesicle formation stand in sharp contrast to the observed lack of defects in synaptophysin knockout mice. Assuming that deficiencies are compensated by the often coexpressed synaptophysin isoform synaptoporin, we now show that retinal rod photoreceptors, which do not synthesize synaptoporin either in wild-type or in knockout mice, are affected by the loss of synaptophysin. Multiple pale-appearing photoreceptors, as seen by electron microscopy, possess reduced cytoplasmic electron density, swollen mitochondria, an…

L'Architettura è resiliente?

2022
