Methane-derived carbonate conduits from the late Aptian of Salinac (Marne Bleues, Vocontian Basin, France): Petrology and biosignatures

Abstract Peculiar carbonate bodies occur in distinct marl layers of the Marnes Bleues Formation (Aptian–Albian, Vocontian Basin, Southern France). The carbonate conduits exhibit pipe- or sausage-like forms and a central channel. Their sizes range between 30 and 60 cm in length and 5–10 cm in diameter. The conduit carbonates consist of automicrite authigenically formed within the sediment. Millimeter-sized aggregates of framboidal pyrite are abundant within the conduit automicrites, probably representing former colonies of sulfate reducing bacteria. Sulphate-reducing bacteria in paper machine waters and in suction roll perforations

To define some aspects of the biological corrosion sulphate-reducing bacteria were studied in paper machine waters and in plugged perforations of a suction roll. The desulphuricants were most active on passive fiber recipients. Most bacteria found in fiber plugs taken from the perforations of suction rolls belonged to the genus Desulfovibrio. Desulphuricants were found mainly at the outer ends of plugged perforations, where corrosion of the roll metal is most evident.

Ceria-based electrolytes prepared by solution combustion synthesis: The role of fuel on the materials properties

Ce0.8Sm0.2O2 − xpowders were synthesized by solution combustion synthesis using citric acid, cellulose and sucrose as single, or intimately mixed, fuels. The powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, N2sorption at −196 °C, H2-temperature programmed reduction and thermogravimetric analyses. Textural properties of the powders were shaped by the peculiar employed fuel. This article republishes (after the Italian Supreme Court judgement n.166/2020 on the Foodora Italia case) the contribution to the exegesis of the case brought by art. 1 para­graph 2 of the d. lgs. n. 81 of 2015 (in the text before the 2019 reform) delivered by the author in the 2015's "Colloqui Giuridici sul Lavoro" (edited) by Antonio Vallebona for the "Massimario di Giurisprudenza del Lavoro". The study rejected the thesis that the job organ­ised by the client was an intermediate regulation between the employee and the self-employed ones. Indeed regarding the conditions for its application it showed the need for extensive reading. The conclusion was that the new discipline was (and is) an anti-fraudulent one. It led to a (relative) expansion of the area ofsubordination as a consequence of a reduction in the scope of coordinated self-employed work. A little more than four years after that article the Italian Supreme Court (with the judgement n.166/2020) on the Foodora Italia case addresses for the first time the issue of the hetero-organised work (by art. 1 paragraph 2 of the d. lgs. n. 81 of 2015). The Supreme Court fully adheres to the paper's thesis. So in terms of the "re­medial" function of the standardthe nature of the organisation's specific conditionand eventually reducing the legal frame for coordinated work. The fact that the procedural matter dealt with the riders was (then and now is) utterly irrelevant for the correct interpretation of such a new provision. Giving to riders of the employee status is not an effect of the peculiarit­ies of the work through digital platforms. It is a consequence of the remedial nature of such a case-law.

A redox-sensitive nanofluidic diode based on nicotinamide-modified asymmetric nanopores

[EN] We demonstrate a redox-sensitive nanofluidic diode whose ion rectification is modulated by the oxidation and reduction of chemical moieties incorporated on its surface. To achieve this goal, we have first synthesized the chemical compounds 1-(4-aminobutyl)-3-carbamoylpyridin-1-ium (Nic-BuNH2) and 3-carbamoyl-1-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)pyridinium (Nic-DNP). Sulphate-Reducing Laboratory-Scale High-Rate Anaerobic Reactors for Treatment of Metal- and Sulphate-Containing Mine Wastewater

Upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactors were used in this study to evaluate the feasibility of the sulphate-reducing, anaerobic high-rate process to treat metal- and sulphate-containing mining wastewater (MWW). Four simultaneous reactors, inoculated with different inocula (mesophilic granular sludge from two UASB reactors, one treating sugar refinery wastewater and the other board mill wastewater) and operated with different loadings, were for 95 days fed with synthetic feed consisting of glucose and sulphate. Task-specific ionic liquid for the depolymerisation of starch-based industrial waste into high reducing sugars

Development of a simple route for the catalytic conversion of starch-based industrial waste (potato peels) and potato starch into reducing sugars was investigated in two ionic liquids for comparison – 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [AMIM]Cl and 1-(4-sulfobutyl)-3-methylimidazolium chloride [SBMIM]Cl. Abstract In this study, the potential of organic acids (formic acid, acetic acid) in a catalytical and mechanocatalytic conversion of lignocellulosic barley straw to valuable sugars is explored using sulfuric acid as a reference. Acid-catalyzed hydrolysis has been carried out with acid-impregnated samples as well as unmodified barley straw.
