Supporting student teachers’ reflection through assessment : The case of reflective podcasts
2023
Reflection is a key learning objective of teacher education, yet little is known about the ways in which it could be supported through assessment. In this case study (N = 14), we examine the potential of a novel assessment task—reflective podcasting—in supporting first-year student teachers’ reflection. We analyzed student group podcasts and corresponding student reflections and found that the task engendered reflection. Three theory-driven dimensions were constructed to emphasize the unique nature of podcasts for student reflection: experientiality, authenticity, and communality. We encourage factoring these dimensions into assessment designs that seek to foster student reflection. peerRev…
Infoética y derechos humanos.
2009
Broadband photocurrent enhancement in a-Si:H solar cells with plasmonic back reflectors
2014
The authors acknowledge Francesco Ruffino for the AFM measurements. This work was funded by the EU FP7 Marie Curie Action FP7-PEOPLE-2010-ITN through the PROPHET project (Grant No. 264687), the bilateral CNR/AVCR project "Photoresponse of nanostructures for advanced photovoltaic applications", the MIUR project Energetic (Grant no. Gestión del cuerpo y planificación urbana: Desplazamiento de significado en la reivención de cuepos y ciudades
2020
Contemporary cities have administrations increasingly marked by urban planning guidelines that are guided by business and marketing and, to attract investments and tourists, implement strategies that aim to homogenize, spectacularize and control urban space. However, other experiences in the city potentially build new meaning to it, which would escape those strategically planned, creating alternative possibilities of uses, diverging from the way thar are predicted and proposed by the governmental power in their urban marketing strategies. The article discusses how the occupation of urban spaces by transvestites for prostitution may imply reflections on the role of norms of gender in the (re…
Processes of Reflection in the Teaching and Learning Research Lab: Effects of Reflecting on Classroom Actions
2021
The ability to reflect on teaching is crucially important for the professionalization of trainee teachers. The fostering of reflection processes – by means of the systematic analysis of one’s own and others’ teaching from subject-specific, methodological, and educational science perspectives – plays a central role in a continuing and consecutive two-semester teacher training seminar concept at the University of Mainz. This paper explores the different effects of reflection on teaching on the basis of a quasi-experimental pre-post test design. Additionally, it shows how systematic reflection on teaching affects the students’ subjective experience of competence as well as the extent the semin…
Specular reflection of spin-polarized electrons from the W(001) spin-filter crystal in a large range of scattering energies and angles
2015
Extending previous work on the imaging spin-filter technique based on electron diffraction from W(001) in the specular (00)-LEED (low-energy electron diffraction) spot, we studied the scattering-energy and angle-of-incidence landscape of spin sensitivity $S$ and reflectivity ${I/I}_{0}$. The setup includes a spin-polarized GaAs electron source and a rotatable delay-line detector for spatially resolving detection. We measured the intensity and spin asymmetry of the specularly reflected beam for energies between 14 and 37 eV and angles of incidence between ${30}^{\ensuremath{\circ}}$ and ${60}^{\ensuremath{\circ}}$. Resulting energy-angular landscapes show rather good agreement with theory [r…
Interaction of oxygen with Mo(100), Mo(110), and Mo(111) surfaces. RHEED and AES analyses of the molybdenum oxide nucleation and growth
1991
Abstract A study of the nucleation and growth of MoO 3 generated by interaction of oxygen with Mo(100), Mo(110), and Mo(111) single crystalline surfaces is investigated at high oxygen pressure (10 4 Pa) and low temperature (620 to 820 K). The results of RHEED and AES analyses prove that under these oxidation conditions, MoO 3 nucleates directly from the metal without intermediate formation of MoO 2 or nonstoichiometric molybdenum oxide such as Mo 4 O 11 . The structure and orientation of MoO 3 nuclei are characterized in relation with the parent molybdenum surface. On the Mo(110) and Mo(111) surfaces, which are faceting, the nucleation and growth of MoO 3 takes place by successive structura…

Using of reflections for expansion of frequency tuning in a THz-band gyrotron
2017
Effect of delayed reflection on operation of a second-harmonic THz-band gyrotron is studied. Theoretical analysis, numerical calculations and experimental observations for the 0.394 THz FU CW IIB gyrotron are presented.
