Parametric self-trapping in the presence of randomized quasi phase matching
2010
We report on experimental evidence of parametric spatial solitons in a quadratic crystal with randomized periodic ferroelectric poling. Two-color self-focusing via quadratic cascading overcomes the diffractive nature of both fundamental and frequency-doubled beams.
The dependence of dichroism in VUV-photoemission on the optical properties of adsorbates: Cs-monolayer on W(110)
1998
Abstract We report on the dependence of dichroic photoemission excited by polarised light on the angle of photon incidence. We measured the difference in the angle-resolved photoemission intensities from Cs-5p semi-corelevels excited by photons of opposite helicity, known as CDAD and of orthogonal linear polarisation—LDAD. We found that the dependence of dichroism on the angle of incidence can not be described by the equations used in the photoemission model for free atomic states. A complex consideration of the parallel and perpendicular components of the vector potential of the exciting light is needed, including the phase shift between these components. The phase shift is produced by the…
COST 241 intercomparison of nonlinear refractive index measurements in dispersion shifted optical fibres at =1550 nm
1997
COST 241 measurements of the nonlinear refractive index, n/sub 2/, exhibit a large scatter depending on the specific measurement technique. This is largely due to the electrostrictive contribution to the Kerr nonlinearity, as is revealed by the resonant behaviour of n/sub 2/ (with peak values up to 3.9 10/sup -20/ m/sup 2/ W/sup -1/) observed with signal modulation frequencies in the 0.11 GHz range.
Recent Developments in Heterogeneous Photoreactor Modelling
1991
A selection of recently proposed heterogeneous photoreactors is presented. In some cases efforts have been made for the formulation of models able to describe the photoreactor behaviour with regard to the absorption of radiation. Examples of proposals of both novel photoreactor and models are critically reviewed.
Random Lasing of Rhodamine 6G Solution Containing TiO2:Silica Core:Shell Nanoparticles
2012
High efficiency and low rate of photodegradation was obtained in a random laser suspending TiO2@Silica nanoparticles in ethanol solution of Rhodamine 6G. The TiO2 nanoparticles were coated with a silica shell prepared via Stober method.
An experimental investigation of the nonlinear refractive index (n2) of carbon disulfide and toluene by spectral shearing interferometry and z-scan t…
2003
International audience; The recently proposed spectral shear interferometry and the well-known z-scan techniques were employed for the determination of the nonlinear refractive index n2 of CS2, toluene and fused silica. The determined n2 values by both techniques were found to be in very good agreement. In addition, the role of the repetition rate of the laser is also investigated revealing its importance for the correct determination of both the size and the sign of the nonlinearity.
Diffusiosmessungen an polymeren in lösung mittels tracer-technik
2007
A cell for measuring coefficients of diffusion and self-diffusion by tracer techniques is described. The cell consists of two Teflon disks and is of the rotational shearing type. The amount of polymer is minimal (about 0.1 ml. for both components). Labeled and unlabeled fractionated polymethacrylate of identical molecular weight distribution was used to determine diffusion coefficients in benzene and toluene. The classical optical measurement is impossible, for these solvents exhibit a refraction index very close to that of polymethacrylate. In acetone, where optical as well as tracer techniques are applicable, the measured diffusion coefficients of the two methods are in good agreement. Al…
Sputtered SiOxNy thin films: improving optical efficiency of liquid crystal diffuser elements in multi-focal near-to-eye display architecture
2021
In this work we present reactive sputtered SiOxNy films with a variable refractive index as a convienent solution for contrast improvement of liquid crystal diffuser multi stacks in near-to-eye AR/VR displays. The focus concerns minimization of light reflections between internal structures, in particular ITO, by optimizing internal layers through tailored properties of thin film coatings, as well as subsequent laser patterning of thin film stack. Inorganic thin films have been deposited on glass by physical vapor deposition. Corresponding refractive index, thickness, uniformity and dielectric characteristics and other electro-optical properties have been measured and their impact on the res…
Measurement technique for real-time and low-cost biosensing using photonic bandgap structures
2011
We present a sensing technique based on using photonic bandgap structures where only the output power is monitored, without the need of tunable sources or spectrum analyzers, thus providing a real-time and low-cost system.
<title>High-frequency electrodeless light sources for application</title>
2001
The high-frequency electrodes light sources (HFELS) are widely used as bright radiators of narrow and intensive spectral lines covering spectral region from VUV to IR. In this work we shall give a short overview of our experience in preparation of HFELS, containing He, H, Rb, Hg, Zn, Pb, As, Sb, Bi, Tl, Hg-Cd, Hg-Zn, Hg-Cd-Zn, Se-Te for different applications. Special attention would be paid for HFELS use in Zeeman mercury analyzer, in Atomic absorption analyzer and Angle and glass refractive index measurement system.© (2001) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
