Diabetic neuropathy is defined as the presence of symptoms and signs of peripheral nerve dysfunction in diabetics. The aim of this study is to develop a predictive logistic model to identify the risk of losing protective sensitivity in the foot. This descriptive cross‐sectional study included 111 patients diagnosed with diabetes mellitus. It establishes a German version of the Somatosensory Amplification Scale and examines its psychometric properties in a representative sample of the German population. Cystinuria is an inherited metabolic disease characterized by an abnormal urinary excretion of cystine and dibasic amino acids. Formation of renal calculi, recurrent infections and renal failure are the main complications of this disease. The SLC3A1 gene, which codes for a dibasic amino acid transporter protein, is involved in the pathogenesis of cystinuria.
