Background: Naturally occurring variation in Membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing 7 (MBOAT7), encoding for an enzyme involved in phosphatidylinositol acyl-chain remodelling, has been associated with fatty liver and hepatic disorders. Here, we examined the relationship between hepatic Mboat7 down-regulation and fat accumulation. Methods: Hepatic MBOAT7 expression was surveyed in 119 obese individuals and in experimental models. MBOAT7 was acutely silenced by antisense oligonucleotides in C57Bl/6 mice, and by CRISPR/Cas9 in HepG2 hepatocytes. The stability problem and noisy projections in discrete tomography

Abstract The new field of research of discrete tomography will be described in this paper. It differs from standard computerized tomography in the reduced number of projections. It needs ad hoc algorithms which usually are based on the definition of the model of the object to reconstruct. The main problems will be introduced and an experimental simulation will prove the robustness of a slightly modified version of a well known method for the reconstruction of binary planar convex sets, even in case of projections affected by error. Influence of arbuscular mycorrhizal colonisation on cadmium induced Medicago truncatula root isoflavonoid accumulation.

Cadmium is a serious environmental pollution threats to the planet. Its accumulation in plants affects many cellular functions, resulting in growth and development inhibition, whose mechanisms are not fully understood. However, some fungi forming arbuscular mycorrhizal symbiosis with the majority of plant species have the capacity to buffer the deleterious effect of this heavy metal. In the present work we investigated the capacity of Rhizophagus irregularis (syn. Glomus irregularis) to alleviate cadmium stress in Medicago truncatula. Early screening of new accumulating versus non-accumulating tree species for the phytomanagement of marginal lands

The present study aims to identify new shrub/tree species to offer a wider range of shrubs/trees useful for phytomanagement practices. NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF MAGNETIC DROPLET DYNAMICS IN A ROTATING FIELD

Dynamics and hysteresis of an elongated droplet under the action of a rotating magnetic field is considered for mathematical modelling. The shape of droplet is found by regularization of the ill-posed initial–boundary value problem for nonlinear partial differential equation (PDE). It is shown that two methods of the regularization – introduction of small viscous bending torques and construction of monotonous continuous functions are equivalent. Their connection with the regularization of the ill-posed reverse problems for the parabolic equation of heat conduction is remarked. Expressive and efficient pattern languages for tree-structured data (extended abstract)

It would be desirable to have a query language for tree-structured data that is (1) as easily usable as SQL, (2) as expressive as monadic second-order logic (MSO), and (3) efficiently evaluable. The paper develops some ideas in this direction. Towards (1) the specification of sets of vertices of a tree by combining conditions on their induced subtree with conditions on their path to the root is proposed. Existing query languages allow regular expressions (hence MSO logic) in path conditions but are limited in expressing subtree conditions. This manuscript is dedicated to the detection and caracterization of interest points for 3D meshes. First of all, we show the limitations of the curvature measure on sharp edges, the measure usually used for the analysis of meshes. Then, we present a generalization of the SUSAN operator for meshes, named SUSAN-3D. The saliency measure proposed quantify the local variation of the surface and classify directly the analysed vertices in five classes: salient, crest, flat, valley and cavity.
