State Without Territory: a legal-political heresy

The sovereign, territorial, nation state form has imposed itself globally. Nevertheless, as Carl Schmitt points out: «Statehood is not a universal concept, valid for all times and all peoples». In other words, state is not the only possible way to establish a relationship between space, humanity and power. This paper intends to historicise the current geopolitical paradigm and drafting a heresy of the public law doctrine: a State Without Territory, a diasporic political community reclaiming some of the traditional government functions. The paper, through the analysis of literary, numismatic and epigraphic sources, and through the contribution of statuary, aims at investigating the causes that determined first the fall into disgrace, and then the death sentence of Ptolemy of Mauretania. A set of reasons, the main of which have an ideological-political and cultural nature, and can be summarized in a self-congratulatory intention, is behind the death sentence of the king, that we propose to contextualize in Rome, after a period of imprisonment, not before September 40 BC, when Caligula went back from Campania.

Focusing on identities and conflicts in literature, this article proposes an analysis of the bifid, metamorphic and conflictual figure of the werewolf. Particularly, Marie de France’s Lay of Bisclavret is analyzed in the light of Giorgio Agamben’s philosophical-anthropological theory about the Homo sacer. Comparing the wolf-man to the “sacred man,” this theory not only does it allow us to understand the liminal juridical essence of the werewolf in medieval society, but it also explains the central role of sovereignty in the “recognition” of the wolf-man, in its reintroduction into the civil context of the court, and therefore in the resolution of “conflicts” and in the re-establishment of a…
La scrittura in italiano LS in apprendenti sinofoni: tra testualità e retorica

Writing skills are a founding pillar of the linguistic-communicative competence of the L2 speakers, which requires a long process of learning and teaching. Based on a corpus analysis of texts written by 24 Chinese learners of Italian, this paper aims to explore whether elements attributable to construction models of the text typical of L1 affect the writing of second language and its embodiment. We analyze this corpus according to both the Contrastive (or Intercultural) Rhetoric and Second Language Acquisition point of views. The conclusion offers the result of the analysis with some reflections on teaching writing in Italian for Chinese students.

The present work moves from a wider project on Italian as L2 competence of a group of foreign unaccompanied minors (MSNA) included in the literacy courses of the Scuola di Lingua Italiana per Stranieri dell’Università di Palermo (ItaStra). The article focuses on the analysis of a narrative speech corpus from native/non native face to face conversations. The narratives involve in particular the experience of migration. In this perspective, a special attention will be paid on the interaction turns, the discourse and pragmatic competence, and the use of linguistic constructions typical of story-telling (the use of conjunctions, verb tense conjugation and adverbs).

The Ukrainian researcher, journalist and politician came to Italy as the head of the Press-office of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Italy. He carried out scientific, journalistic and politic activities in the interwar period. This paper considers the phenomenon of migration, by proposing a case study upon the migration of Romanians in Italy. As a consequence of the access of Romania in the UE in January 2007, Romanians became citizens of UE, but, nevertheless, they are not aware of their rights and juridical statute and continue to live in a state of subordination and humility in their interaction with their employers. They do not rebel, since they are afraid of losing their working place.
