The BIM (Building Information Modeling)-Based Approach for Road Pavement Maintenance
2019
The recent developments of road pavement survey technologies guarantee acquisition of detailed data regarding the main functional and structural indicators, at a very high frequency and levels of accuracy and precision unconceivable few years ago. The relevant information, regarding surface distresses too, is thus available in economical, high-speed and high-resolution forms, with limited disturbance on traffic and road agencies issues. However, the availability of such a mass of data poses interesting questions concerning the most efficient processing and analysis methods, for optimizing maintenance operation planning. Unfortunately, the PMS adoption is not very common and widespread, as t…
Teachers’ pedagogical and relational identity negotiation in the Finnish CLIL context
2017
Abstract This study explores the professional identity of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) teachers in Finnish primary education. It aims at explaining how CLIL teachers negotiate their pedagogical and relational identity, and how identity agency is exercised in negotiating a more encompassing professional identity. Thematic analysis of thirteen interviews outlines the bi-directional process of identity negotiation between personal and professional resources, and social contexts at work. The results highlight a connection between professional identity and agency, and suggest that identity negotiation is a process of working and sharing with others, but also individually.
A joint reading of positional and relational goods
2013
Both relational and positional goods are based upon an idea of joint consumption - though with opposite signs. Indeed, in both cases, individuals' consumption choices take into account not only the individuals themselves, but others, as well. Given that relational goods provide a form of identity to their consumers, we show that a certain degree of positionality emerges within the consumption of relational goods. Analogously, except in a two-agent context, each positional good also has a relational component. What emerges is a complex structure of economic outcomes based on both relational and positional motives.
Lo sviluppo rurale tra qualità agroalimentare e ambiente
2013
The demand to the agriculture sector of products ever more diversified and with ever greater contents of quality, as well as the growing attention for health, environmental and ethical content has led to synergistic and enhancement actions between the various functions of agriculture and in particular between the environment and rural development. This can be transformed into a competitive advantage when it becomes a strategy to diversify the business activities, and determine a reallocation of production factors on agricultural production in favor of environmental and social functions that allow to generate additional incomes. Because business success goes hand in hand with that of the ter…
Dyplomacja publiczna w kontekście rozwiązywania konfliktów: rozważania teoretyczne w odniesieniu do zasadności i użyteczności jej stosowania
2019
The aim of the article is to argue for the usefulness of public diplomacy and legitimacy of its application as a complementary tool for traditional diplomacy in the area of conflict resolution. Public diplomacy, due to its specificity, is part of changes in internationał relations and thus promotes approaches and offers tools that seem to be functional in various types and at different stages of internationał conflicts. The article consists of several parts. In the first part, subjective and objective changes in contemporary internationał relations are introduced. Their diagnosis makes it possible to deem public diplomacy legitimate in the context of conflict resolution. The second part des…
Surrogacy relationships: a critical interpretative review
2020
Abstract Based on a critical interpretative review of existing qualitative research investigating accounts of ‘lived experience’ of surrogates and intended parents from a relational perspective, this article proposes a typology of surrogacy arrangements. The review is based on the analysis of 39 articles, which belong to a range of different disciplines (mostly sociology, social psychology, anthropology, ethnology, and gender studies). The number of interviews in each study range from as few as seven to over one hundred. Countries covered include Australia, Canada, Greece, India, Iran, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Russia, Sweden, UK, Ukraine, and the USA. Most studies focus only on surrog…
Osservazioni intorno a Sopravvenienze e rimedi nei contratti di durata
2019
The essay deals with the subject of contractual change of circumstances and related remedies. In particular, the work focuses on the debate on the possibility of configuring a legal renegotiation obligation in the Italian legal system. The critical examination of favorable positions allows us to offer a more precise reading on the margins of application of the renegotiation.

A modelling framework for social media monitoring
2013
This paper describes a hierarchical, three-level modelling framework for monitoring social media. Immediate social reality is modelled through the first level of the models. They represent various virtual communities at social media sites and adhere to the social world models of the sites, i.e., the "site ontologies". The second-level model is a temporal multirelational graph that captures the static and dynamic properties of the first-level models from the perspective of the monitoring site. The third-level model consists of a temporal relational database scheme that models the temporal multirelational graph within the database. The models are specified and instantiated at the monitoring s…
A Generic Architecture for a Social Network Monitoring and Analysis System
2011
This paper describes the architecture and a partial implementation of a system designed for the monitoring and analysis of communities at social media sites. The main contribution of the paper is a novel system architecture that facilitates long-term monitoring of diverse social networks existing and emerging at various social media sites. It consists of three main modules, the crawler, the repository and the analyzer. The first module can be adapted to crawl different sites based on ontology describing the structure of the site. The repository stores the crawled and analyzed persistent data using efficient data structures. It can be implemented using special purpose graph databases and/or …
