How relational contract theory influence management strategies and project outcomes: a systematic literature review

2021

Despite growing interest in Relational Contracting (RC), few studies have comprehensively investigated the qualities required for a successful RC project. Macneil’s ten norms are principles of behaviour in contracts based on the application of relational contract theory and play an essential role in the formation and agreement of parties and their commitment to means and objectives. In contributing a missing dimension to the RC approach in construction, the purpose of this research is to conduct a systematic review of studies of relational contracting to answer the question: In what ways can the influence of RC theory be observed in the management strategies and outcomes of relational proje…

Towards a network-based view of effective entrepreneurial ecosystems

2021

AbstractWe conceptualize entrepreneurial ecosystems as fundamentally reliant on networks and explore how and under what conditions inter-organizational networks lead an entrepreneurial ecosystem to form and evolve. It is widely accepted that entrepreneurial ecosystems possess a variety of symbiotic relationships. Research has focused considerable efforts in refining the structure and content of resources found within these networked relationships. However, merely focusing on actor-level characterizations dilutes the notion that social relationships change and are complex. There has been little conceptual treatment of the behavioral and governance factors that underpin how quality interactio…

XML Enabled Metamodeling and Tools for Cooperative Information Systems

2001

The development of tools to support semantic resolution is a key issue in the design of heterogeneous interoperable information systems. This paper presents a methodology and a data model translator toolkit, called X-TIME, for the design and management of interoperable information systems. X-TIME combines a metamodelling approach and XML features to provide support for automated design of wrappers or semantic reconciliators. It is a flexible semantics oriented approach that takes into account several important characteristics of interoperable information systems, including extensibility and composability. Extensibility requires a translation scheme that can easily integrate new data models.…

Algorithms and Organizing

2022

Abstract Algorithms are a ubiquitous part of organizations as they enable, guide, and restrict organizing at the level of everyday interactions. This essay focuses on algorithms and organizing by reviewing the literature on algorithms in organizations, examining the viewpoint of relationality and relational agency on algorithms and organizing, exploring the properties of algorithms, and concluding what these mean from an organizational communication viewpoint. Algorithms need data to be collected. The data are always biased, and algorithms exclude everything that is not in their code. They define what is seen as important. Their operating principles are opaque, and they are political due to…

Relational Communication in Intercultural Couples

2006

This qualitative study utilises the relational dialectics of Baxter and Montgomery (1996) to examine the relationship communication of six heterosexual intercultural couples living in Finland. In this study, I attempt to answer the following questions: what cultural issues are relevant in the couples' relationship? What intercultural relational dialectics do the intercultural couples experience in their relationship? The interviews are based on a concept map, and were recorded, transcribed, and analysed qualitatively. The findings are categorised under two headers: cultural issues and intercultural relational dialectics. The cultural issues consist of the following topics: language and comm…

New Approaches in the Analysis of the Contemporary Dramatic Character

2013

Abstract The character is the core of dramaturgy. The current paper aims to present the newest research regarding the contemporary dramatic character. The study looks at the recent theoretical approaches that hold a double perspective on the character: as a writer's composition and as an actor's performance. The character is defined through his name, implication and role in the action, but also through his own discourse. Based on the connection between similarities and differences, each trait of a character facilitates the revelation of the whole image. The result is a microcosmic structure of a specific typology of characters, interconnected and interdependent. Certain specific, defining c…

Relationship between Cyberbullying, Motivation and Learning Strategies, Academic Performance, and the Ability to Adapt to University

2021

Cyberbullying has become a frequent relational problem among young people, which has made it necessary to evaluate and prevent it in the university setting. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between cyberbullying, motivation and learning strategies, the ability to adapt to university, and academic performance. A sample of 1368 Spanish university students (64% female) was administered a battery consisting of the European Bullying Intervention Project Questionnaire, the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory Short version, and the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire, with their academic performance also being studied. The results found that the victimized bullies h…

General method for automated feature extraction and selection and its application for gender classification and biomechanical knowledge discovery of …

2020

Modern technologies enable to capture multiple biomechanical parameters often resulting in relational data. The current work proposes a generally applicable method comprising automated feature extraction, ensemble feature selection and classification to best capture the potentials of the data also for generating new biomechanical knowledge. Its benefits are demonstrated in the concrete biomechanically and medically relevant use case of gender classification based on spinal data for stance and gait. Very good results for accuracy were obtained using gait data. Dynamic movements of the lumbar spine in sagittal and frontal plane and of the pelvis in frontal plane best map gender differences.

Adaptability and Ongoing Contractual Term Specificity: Advancements and Theoretical Implications

2013

Studies on interfirm contractual relations have followed an incremental path. Recent developments have suggested a dichotomous property of contracts (i.e., contingent adaptability and ongoing contractual term specificity). Such a view is one step toward resolving most contradictory findings in studies related to contracting that have assumed a single dimension. This article takes a step toward minimizing the vacuum on contracting theory by adding a stronger theoretical base that takes into account the dichotomous property of contracts. Findings suggest some differences and similarities in these key contractual components.
