Risk factor quantification, particularly of modifiable risk factors, can help to identify emerging threats to population health and opportunities for prevention. We present here a new selection criterion for prioritizing research on efficacious drugs for the fight against COVID-19: the relative toxicity versus safety of herbal medications, which were effective against SARS in the 2002/2003 epidemic. We rank these medicines according to their toxicity versus safety as basis for preferential rapid research on their potential in the treatment of COVID-19. The relationship that the parents have with each other is one of the factors to take into consideration when adopting or not the modality of shared custody and custody after a situation of family crisis. To deny the shared modality if there was no good relationship between the parents was the rule until relatively recent dates. With the entry into force of local laws as well as the change in jurisprudence, the tendency that remains is to consider that it will no longer be enough that there is this bad relationship but will have to be a situation of high confrontation so that this situation may be grounds for denial of the shared custody regime.

Effect of cooking on oxalate content of pulses using an enzymatic procedure.

An enzymatic method proposed for the determination of oxalate in urine is adapted for the estimation of soluble oxalate content in beans, chickpeas and lentils. Oxalates were extracted in water by refluxing for 2 h. The method is based on the oxidation of oxalate by the oxidase and the determination of the resulting hydrogen peroxide, which in presence of peroxidase, 3-methyl-2 benzotiazinolone and 3-dimethylamino benzoic, gives an indamine compound with an absorption maximum at 590 nm. Water adsorption and capillary bridge formation within a layer of SiO2-nanoparticles were studied in situ by means of a combination of quartz crystal microbalance (QCM-D) with dissipation analysis and Fourier transformation infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy (FT-IRRAS). Abstract The DNA-binding of two salphen-like metal complexes of nickel(II) (1) and zinc(II) (2) was investigated in different ionic strength solutions by absorption spectroscopy. The data analysis allowed us to obtain the values of their extrapolated DNA-binding constant in physiological conditions, with DNA-binding strength in the order Ni > Zn, and to give relative weight to the electrostatic and non-electrostatic contributions to their DNA-interaction.

Autotrophic and Heterotrophic Picoplankton in Wetlands: Differences with Lake Patterns

This study describes the occurrence, importance and seasonal patterns of picoplankton in two wetlands (TDNP and La Safor), and compares them to a system of fifteen interconnected lakes (Ruidera). In TDNP we performed a six-year monthly study in three sites of the wetland. Bacterial abundance increased throughout time and the autotrophic picoplankton (APP) range was wide (up to 33 x 10 6 cells/ml). The annual averaged APP contribution to total picoplankton and phytoplankton biovolumes was 0.5-22% and 0.03-6% respectively. In natural viewing, numerous depth cues are available to the visual system, but their significance varies considerably depending on the viewing distance. How is it reflected in the outcome of depth judgements? We have designed a psychophysical experiment with a limited number of depth cues to examine distance-related changes in the correct response rate and time. Twenty young adults evaluated relative depth of stimuli in physical space. Each time four constant angular size achromatic stimuli were presented on a volumetric multi-planar display.
