Erhöht mütterliche Adipositas das Risiko für kindliche Fehlbildungen?
2008
Aim To investigate the risk of congenital malformations for newborn of obese women (BMI > or = 30) compared with women of average prepregnancy weight. Methods We performed a prospective, population-based case-control study of 20,248 newborn born in the city of Mainz. A total of 1,451 infants (cases) with and 8,088 without congenital malformations (controls) were analysed. The relative risks of associations between obesity and malformations were calculated as odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CI). Results The prevalence of malformations in children of obese mothers is 11.1% and thus approximately 4% higher than those of the total study population. There is a significant odds ra…
Leukocytosis and Thrombosis At Diagnosis Are Associated with Poor Survival in Polycythemia Vera: A Population-Based Study on 327 Patients
2011
Abstract Abstract 2819 Introduction Polycythemia Vera (PV) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm with a long life expectancy. Consequently, long-term follow-up studies that focus on survival of PV patients must be conducted in order to register a sufficient number of events to provide informative results and statistical analyses. Most of the published studies are single-institution that focused on patients referred to hospitals, which does not necessarily reflect the course of PV in the general population. In these studies, the median age at diagnosis is younger than usually noted for PV patients in population-based studies. Moreover, survival is generally based on observed mortality, a good but…
Trends in Incidence and Survival of Myeloid Malignancies Since 1980, in the Côte D'or Department, Burgundy, France.
2009
Abstract Abstract 3122 Poster Board III-59 Objective The Registry of Haematological Malignancies (HM) has been established on January 1st, 1980 in the department of Côte d'Or (pop 500 000 inhabitants). It was the first specialized registry in haematology in the world. During the course of 25 years (1980-2004), 5026 cases of HM were recorded including 1553 Myeloid malignancies (MM) in which entities not initially considered as malignant were taken in account such as Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) and some Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). This allow us to present trends in incidence and survival of myeloid malignancies by entities since 1980. Method MM diagnosed in the population between …
Population Level Survival of Patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in Germany in the Early 21st Century
2012
Abstract Abstract 759 Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a rare but highly treatable form of leukemia. Recent advances in the treatment of CML have dramatically improved survival in clinical trials. Prior work using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database in the United States (US) suggest that survival on the population level has increased, but still lags behind that seen in clinical trials1. In the past, evaluation of population level survival in other countries has been hampered by the lack of high quality data from a large enough population to evaluate trends in survival in this rare disease. Recently, a collaborative effort between the German Cancer Re…
Neumotórax espontáneo y presión atmosférica
2002
In order to assess factors associated with spontaneous pneumothorax (SP), mainly climatic changes, a prospective study was undertaken of 62 SP episodes among patients admitted to our hospital during a two-year period, from January 1994 to January 1996. Atmospheric pressure (AP) changes were analyzed, with daily recording of the number of unusual changes in AP (increases above 95th percentile and decreases below 5th percentile) and how many of these changes were followed by some episode of spontaneous pneumothorax during the following five days. To measure the degree of this association between the emergence of pneumothorax and exposure to unusual changes I AP, the relative risk (RR) was cal…
Vaginal progesterone decreases preterm birth and neonatal morbidity and mortality in women with a twin gestation and a short cervix: an updated meta‐…
2017
Objective To assess the efficacy of vaginal progesterone for the prevention of preterm birth and neonatal morbidity and mortality in asymptomatic women with a twin gestation and a sonographic short cervix (cervical length ≤ 25 mm) in the mid-trimester. Methods This was an updated systematic review and meta-analysis of individual patient data (IPD) from randomized controlled trials comparing vaginal progesterone with placebo/no treatment in women with a twin gestation and a mid-trimester sonographic cervical length ≤ 25 mm. MEDLINE, EMBASE, POPLINE, CINAHL and LILACS (all from inception to 31 December 2016), the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Research Registers of ongoing tr…
Periodontal disease and stroke: a meta-analysis of cohort studies
2013
This review aimed to determine the association between periodontal disease and stroke incidence by a meta-analysis of cohort studies. Cohort studies that evaluated the incidence of stroke (fatal or non-fatal, ischaemic or haemorrhagic) and baseline periodontal status and calculated relative risk values were included. The quality of the included studies was assessed using an evaluation grid. The analyses were conducted separately for three outcomes: periodontitis, gingivitis and loss of teeth. Adjusted values of relative risk or of hazard ratio were used to assess risk values in each study. Random effects meta-analyses were conducted when data could be pooled. From the 743 references retriev…
Nonresonant dielectric hole-burning spectroscopy on a titanium-modified lead magnesium niobate ceramic
2001
Nonresonant dielectric hole-burning experiments were performed on the titanium-modified relaxor ferroelectric lead magnesium niobate around the diffuse maximum in the dielectric permittivity. After applying large alternating electric pump fields we monitored the polarization response to small field steps for times between 0.3 ms and 100 s. Depending on the frequency of the pump oscillation a speedup of the polarization response was observed with a maximum located around times corresponding to the inverse pump frequency. The refilling of the dielectric holes was investigated for several temperatures, pump frequencies, and pump field amplitudes. It proceeded always slower than the time scale …
Dependence of dielectric permittivity on bias field in Pb1−xBaxSc0.5Nb0.5O3
2001
Abstract Bias field effect on the dielectric permittivity is studied in Badoped lead scandium niobate ferroelectric ceramics (PBSN-x) prepared by conventional technology. Results of this work allow to analyse the mechanism of possible formation and motion of domain and/or phase boundaries in the explored ferroelectric ceramics.
Evolution of dielectric permittivity under applied field in PLZT 8.3/70/30 ceramics
2000
Abstract The jump of dielectric permittivity as function of bias field applied after various duration of storage at the measurement temperature is investigated. The influence of storage time on ϵ(E=) depends on the value of bias field and frequency of measuring field. It is found that ϵ(E=) depends on the path of how particular field value is reached.
