MRI-Visible Poly(ε-caprolactone) with Controlled Contrast Agent Ratios for Enhanced Visualization in Temporary Imaging Applications

International audience; Hydrophobic macromolecular contrast agents (MMCAs) are highly desirable to provide safe and efficient magnetic resonance (MR) visibility to implantable medical devices. In this study, we report on the synthesis and evaluation of novel biodegradable poly(ε-caprolactone)-based MMCAs. Poly(α-propargyl-ε-caprolactone-co-ε-caprolactone)s containing 2, 5, and 10 mol % of propargyl groups have been prepared by ring-opening copolymerization of ε-caprolactone and the corresponding propargylated lactone. A non-linear stochastic approach of ligaments and tendons fractional-order hereditariness

Abstract In this study the non-linear hereditariness of knee tendons and ligaments is framed in the context of stochastic mechanics. Without losing the possibility of generalization, this work was focused on knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and the tendons used in its surgical reconstruction. Relaxation Induced By Guanosine in Mouse Stomach

Guanine-based purines are part of the purinergic system and recently have been shown to act as neuromodulators, interfering with acetylcholine release by enteric neurons in mouse colon. Due to the pivotal role played by enteric neurons in the control of gastrointestinal motility, the aim of the present study was to verify whether guanosine may affect gastric emptying and the mechanical tone, detected in vitro as changes in intraluminal pressure, of the isolated mouse stomach. Guanosine induced a TTX-insensitive concentration-dependent relaxation of isolated stomach, which at the maximal concentration tested (1 mM), reached about 60% of the relaxation induced by 1 µM isoproterenol. Enhanced sampling in simulations of dense systems

In the simulations of a variety of systems we encounter the problem of large relaxation times due to the dense packing of the systems constituents. We propose an algorithm to overcome this slowing down by temporarily allowing the constituents of a 3d systems to escape into a 4th space coordinate. The idea will be exemplified for the problem of a homopolymer collapse.

Factors influencing structural heat-induced structural relaxation of dissolved organic matter

Abstract Physical and chemical structure affect properties of dissolved organic matter (DOM). Recent observations revealed that heating and cooling cycles at higher temperature amplitude lead to a change in DOM physical conformation assumingly followed by a slow structural relaxation. RELAXATION OF ELECTRON SPIN DURING FIELD TRANSPORT IN GaAs BULKS

The spin depolarization of drifting electrons in a n-type doped GaAs bulk semiconductor is studied, in a wide range of lattice temperature (40 K < TL < 300 K) and doping density (10^{13} cm^{−3} < n < 10^{16} cm^{−3}), by adopting a semiclassical Monte Carlo approach. The effect of the mechanism of Dyakonov-Perel (DP) on the spin depolarization of the conduction electrons is analyzed as a function of the amplitude of a static electric field, ranging between 0.1 and 6 kV cm^{−1}, by considering the spin dynamics of electrons in both the Γ-valley and the upper L-valleys of the semiconductor. Distribution of relaxation times in 0.5PMN-0.5PSN ceramics

Dielectric properties of chemically ordered and disordered 0.5PbMg1/3Nb2/3O3-0.5 PbSc1/2Nb1/2O3 (0.5PMN-0.5PSN) ceramics were investigated in frequency range from 20 Hz to 3 GHz by dielectric spectroscopy. The broad dielectric dispersion, similar to this typically obtained for relaxor ferroelectrics (RFE), was observed in both ceramics below 350 K. The frequency dependence of dielectric permittivity of these ceramics were analyzed in terms of the distribution of relaxation times and showed the splitting into two components at lower temperatures.
