The Effect of Tyramine, Noradrenaline, and Angiotensin on the Blood Pressure in Hypertensive Patients with Aldosteronism and Low Plasma Renin

The reactivity to the pressor action of tyramine, noradrenaline, and angiotensin was determined in 9 patients with hypertension, aldosteronism and low plasma renin concentration (4 patients with solitary adrenal adenomas, 3 patients with nodular adrenal hyperplasia, 2 patients with unknown adrenal status). In 7 patients tests were repeated following unilateral or subtotal adrenalectomy respectively. Epinephrine and Norepinephrine Pattern in Elderly Patients with Borderline and Established Hypertension

To evaluate the activity of sympathetic system and of plasm renin in elderly patients with borderline (BH) and established essential hypertension (EH), 31 BH mean age 38 years and 30 EH, mean age 39 years; 15 BH, mean age 66 years, and 15 EH, mean age 68 years, were studied at rest and after dynamic exercise. Salt-regulating hormones in young normotensive obese subjects. Effects of saline load.

To investigate whether the response of salt-regulating hormones to volume expansion is impaired in obese subjects, we assessed the effects of saline load (0.25 mL/kg.min.120 min) in 9 young, healthy, normotensive obese subjects (body mass index, > 30 kg/m2) and in 10 lean control subjects (body mass index, < 25 kg/m2) matched for age, gender, height, and mean blood pressure. Hematocrit, plasma renin activity (PRA), plasma aldosterone (PA), atrial natriuretic factor (ANF), and urinary sodium excretion (UNaV) were evaluated. SYMPATHETIC NERVOUS SYSTEM AND BLOOD-PRESSURE CONTROL IN ESSENTIAL HYPERTENSION

Abstract In normotensive subjects an inverse correlation was observed between an index of sympathetic nervous activity (the plasma-noradrenaline concentration during physical exercise) and reactivity to exogenous noradrenaline. This relationship was invariably disturbed in age-matched patients with essential hypertension. Multiple-regression analysis revealed a highly significant correlation between the combination of both factors and the height of mean arterial blood-pressure ( r =0·91). Purpose: To investigate the effects of including repeated sprints in a weekly low-intensity (LIT) session during a 3-week transition period on cycling performance 6 weeks into the subsequent preparatory period (PREP) in elite cyclists. There is evidence that uncontrolled arterial hypertension (AHT) in patients with metabolic syndrome (MS) increases cardiovascular risks. The renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) and its polymorphisms apparently confer a genetic risk for uncontrolled AHT. This study aims to investigate the influence of RAAS polymorphisms on AHT control in patients diagnosed with MS. This is a two-stage population-based nested case-control pilot study (n=1514).
