Does Airbnb Disrupt the Private Rental Market? An Empirical Analysis for French Cities

This article evaluates whether Airbnb rentals affect the rents in the private rental sector in eight cities in France. We estimate a hedonic equation for each city on individual data for apartments, allowing for heteroscedasticity and spatial error autocorrelation of unknown forms and using a large variety of structural and contextual characteristics of the apartments. We show that the density of Airbnb rentals puts upward pressure on rents in Lyon, Montpellier, and Paris, whereas it has no significant effect in other cities. Cloud computing brings new possibilities, allowing software firms to sell their software products using the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. SaaS provides opportunities for flexible pricing but creates challenges on how to achieve a profitable revenue stream. In this multicase study, the revenue models of five SaaS providers were examined. The main interest of the study was to investigate the different revenue models and the reasons for using particular revenue models. Parenting Styles and Internet Use

The Internet has become the most popular way for young people to communicate with one another. Recent data indicate that 95% of students have Internet access. This study examined the links between Internet use and the parenting styles that shape parent-child interactions. Empirical analysis showed that Internet use accounts for the majority of adolescents' leisure time. The neglecting parenting style has the strongest relationship with addictive Internet use by adolescent girls and boys. For boys, addictive Internet use is also related to a combination of different parenting styles resulting from inconsistencies and contradictions between parents.

The article is a report on our own research concerning how spouses who do not take over parental roles assess their family. The study aimed to search for a relationship between evaluating one’s family and life/marital satisfaction and attitudes towards children among spouses who do not undertake parenting. The study was carried out from a developmental perspective. The research group consisted of 76 married persons in their early adulthood. The participants postponed taking on parental roles for a specifi ed time or declared voluntary childlessness.
