Highlights • The Rives-Stoppa technique is an excellent repair in midline incisional hernia. • Prospective comparative analysis between retromuscular Self-gripping mesh and PPL fixed with sutures. • Self-gripping mesh is related to less postoperative pain the first 48 h after repair. • There were more postoperative hematomas in Non-Progrip group. • There were no differences in hernia recurrence in both groups.

Abstract: We report a case in which a giant Spigelian hernia presented with severe, persistent abdominal pain in a 62- year-old super-obese woman with a history of total abdominal hysterectomy-bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy at the age of 40 years for benign neoplasia, who later underwent open hernia repair (maximal diameter of the hernia sac: 21 cm) because of the development of compartment syndrome. Afterward, although a large incarcerated hernia disease was found, the sac removal was technically difficult and an open procedure was carried out, with double-mesh placement. Material and Methods This retrospective and cross-sectional study analyzed 3,923 patients with cleft lip and palate attended by surgical missions of the Operacion Sonrisa Peru from January 2006 to December 2019. The aim of this study is to assess the long-term effect of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) transplantation in a rat model of chronic myocardial infarction (MI) in comparison with the effect of bone marrow mononuclear cells (BM-MNC) transplant. Purpose: To investigate the effect of applying an additional suture to enhance the biomechanical behavior of the suture–meniscus construct used during the transtibial pull- out repair technique. Methods: A total of 20 fresh-frozen porcine tibiae with intact medial menisci were used. In one half of all speci- mens (N = 10), two non-absorbable sutures were passed directly over the meniscal root from the tibia side of the meniscus to the femoral side (2SS).
