Sammenhengen mellom mestringsforventning, helserelatert livskvalitet og selvrapportert fysisk aktivitet blant elever i videregående skole
2016
Masteroppgave folkehelsevitenskap - Universitetet i Agder 2016 Background: Two different intervention models were developed to increase participation in physical education in high school, targeting “motion enjoyment” and “sport enjoyment”. Both models are intended to increase the pleasure of physical activity in physical education, as well as to contribute to the development of students’ skills, abilities and increase future commitment. The intention behind the motion enjoyment model is to reinforce positive experiences which are related to physical activity, along with raising the awareness in young people of the health benefits associated with physical activity. The sport enjoyment model …
Kirjoitus, juttu, tekstielementti : suomalainen sanomalehtijournalismi juttutyyppien kehityksen valossa printtimedian vuosina 1771-2000
2008
Jyrki Pietilä tutki väitöskirjassaan suomalaisen sanomalehtijournalismin pitkiä kehityslinjoja lähemmäs neljännesvuosituhannen ajalta. Hän tarkasteli juttutyyppien eli journalististen genrejen kehitystä.Sanomalehdistömme ensimmäiset runsaat 200 vuotta olivat kirjoitetun sanan aikaa. Ensin oli harrastelijatoimittajan rustaama kirjoitus, sitten tuli professionaali juttu.Seitsemän perusjuttutyypin – uutisen, taustajutun, selostuksen, reportaasin, haastattelun, pääkirjoituksen ja pakinan – kehityksen valossa moderni journalismi alkoi kasvaa kelpo oraalle jo 1890-luvun mittaan. Maailmansodat lisäsivät ihmisten kiinnostusta uutisiin ja nostivat monien lehtien levikkejä. Journalistisen ilmaisun ke…
The Psychometric properties of the resilience scale (RS-14) in Lithuanian adolescents
2021
In the current study, we provided the evidence of satisfactory validity of the RS-14 scale in the Lithuanian adolescents’ sample (N = 1299; Mage = 14.24; SDage = 1.26), based on its internal structure, and relations to other variables. The results of the study indicated an acceptable model fit for a single-factor structure of the scale with a high internal consistency (McDonald’s omega = 0.89). We also confirmed the scalar measurement invariance across groups of adolescents in terms of their age (i.e., early and middle adolescence) and mental health profile as well as partial scalar gender invariance. Adolescents characterized by high levels of socio-emotional problems reported lower levels…
Utility of Alternative Effect Size Statistics and the Development of a Web-Based Calculator: Shiny-AESC
2018
Alternative displays of effect size statistics can enhance the understandability and impact of validity evidence in a variety of applied settings. Arguably, the proliferation of alternative effect size statistics has been limited due to the lack of user-friendly tools to create them. Common statistical packages do not readily produce these alternative effect sizes and existing tools are outdated and inaccessible. In this paper, I introduce a free-to-use web-based calculator (https://dczhang.shinyapps.io/expectancyApp/) for generating alternative effect size displays from empirical data. This calculator requires no mathematical or programming expertise, and therefore, is ideal for academics …
Autovalutazione e valutazione d'Istituto
2017
The paper focuses on those scholars and international institutions that have contributed to the construction of the t…
IgA-Dominant Infection-Associated Glomerulonephritis Following SARS-CoV-2 Infection
2021
The renal involvement of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has been reported. The etiology of kidney injury appears to be tubular, mainly due to the expression of angiotensin-converting enzyme 2, the key joint receptor for SARS-CoV-2; however, cases with glomerular implication have also been documented. The multifactorial origin of this renal involvement could include virus-mediated injury, cytokine storm, angiotensin II pathway activation, complement dysregulation, hyper-coagulation, and microangiopathy. We present the renal histological findings from a patient who developed acute kidney injury and de novo nephrotic syndrome, highly suggestive of acute IgA-domina…
Genomic structure and promoter analysis of pathogen-inducedrepatgenes fromSpodoptera exigua
2009
The repat gene family encodes midgut proteins overexpressed in response to pathogen infection in the lepidopteran Spodoptera exigua. Up-regulation of repat genes has been observed after challenging the larvae with both Bacillus thuringiensis toxins and after infection with the baculovirus Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus. In our study, PCR amplification of the genomic region and genome walking were used to obtain the genomic structure and the sequence of the 5'-upstream region of repat1 and repat2, two of the most phylogenetically distant members of the repat family. A similar gene structure between repat1 and repat2 has been found, with conserved exon-intron positions a…
Enhancement of hepatitis C virus RNA replication by cell culture-adaptive mutations.
2001
ABSTRACT Studies of the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) replication cycle have been made possible with the development of subgenomic selectable RNAs that replicate autonomously in cultured cells. In these replicons the region encoding the HCV structural proteins was replaced by the neomycin phosphotransferase gene, allowing the selection of transfected cells that support high-level replication of these RNAs. Subsequent analyses revealed that, within selected cells, HCV RNAs had acquired adaptive mutations that increased the efficiency of colony formation by an unknown mechanism. Using a panel of replicons that differed in their degrees of cell culture adaptation, in this study we show that adaptive…
Inspiratory Muscle Strength and Cardiorespiratory Fitness Association With Health-Related Quality of Life in Healthy Older Adults
2021
The main purpose of this study was to explore similarities and differences in the association between two capabilities affecting the cardiorespiratory system (overall and multifactorial cardiorespiratory fitness and inspiratory muscle strength) and the health-related quality of life (HRQoL), in a group of active healthy seniors. Sixty-five individuals (age, 73.01 ± 5.27 years; 53 women) who participated regularly in a multicomponent training program completed the EuroQol 5D-5L questionnaire, the 6-min walking test (6MWT), and the maximum inspiratory pressure test (MIP). Non-parametric correlations (Spearman's rho) were conducted to analyze the association between HRQoL indices (EQindex and …
Differential effects of workaholism and work engagement on the interference between life and work domains
2018
This study analyzed the differences between workaholism and work engagement in relation to their influence on work–life interference. Workaholism is an addiction to work, characterized by obsessive attitude towards job, whereas work engagement concerns a positive pattern of thoughts and feelings about one’s job; these two constructs thus represent pathological and healthy forms of heavy work investment, respectively. As a consequence, it was expected that workaholism and work engagement would have different effects on perceived interference between work and life domains. We assessed levels of workaholism, work engagement, work-to-life interference, and life-to-work interference in a sample …
