Measuring autonomy freedom

In the measurement of autonomy freedom, the admissible potential preference relations are elicited by means of the concept of ‘reasonableness’. In this paper we argue for an alternative criterion based on information about the decision maker’s ‘awareness’ of his available opportunities. We argue that such an inter- pretation of autonomy fares better than that based on reasonableness. We then introduce some axioms that capture this intuition and study their logical impli- cations. In the process, a new measure of autonomy freedom is characterized, which generalizes some of the measures so far constructed in the literature.

Germany is the biggest paper exporter in the world, the biggest paper producer in Europe and the fourth biggest producer in the world. It is also the biggest market in Europe and a major export market for European pulp producers. However, only three German pulp and paper companies made it to the top 100 list of the industry in 2010 and none made it into the top 50 (PPI 2011). Network analysis of knowledge and practices regarding sexual and reproductive health: a study among adolescent street girls in Kinshasa (DRC)

The aim of the study was to ascertain the influence of knowledge and interventions in sexual and reproductive health and contraception practices among adolescent street girls from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo.A cross-sectional study was carried out among street girls between 12 and 21 years of age. A standardised questionnaire was used, encompassing socio-demographic data and knowledge and practices regarding sexual and reproductive health. A network analysis was carried out.The study comprised 293 street girls. En este artículo comparo la primera y última edición de la Introducción de la ciencia del derecho de Gustav Radbruch. Me centro en aquellos aspectos que bosquejan su concepto de derecho, a saber, la relación entre derecho y moral, su modelo de Estado y la creación judicial del derecho. El resultado está determinado por la circunstancia vital e histórica de las dos ediciones: la primera publicada antes de la IGM, siendo Radbruch un joven docente en Heidelberg; la última fue redactada ya en la República de Weimar, habiendo ocupado la cartera de Justicia y siendo un reconocido jurista.

Against the background of raising the retirement age to 67 years and the associated lengthening of working lifetimes in higher age groups, this article examines the question of the extent to which this political objective is covered by the health assets of the population. Here, we will first trace trends in “healthy” life expectancy among the total population for different points in time 1989, 1999 and 2009 on the basis of the data from the Socio-Economic Panel Study (SOEP) and analyse these against the background of social strata indicators such as income and educational levels. Tekst stanowi charakterystykę dostępnych publikacji ks. prałata Carla Ulitzki (1873–1953) i stanowi przyczynek do poznania postaci oraz działalności proboszcza i działacza społecznego i politycznego, ale także wgląd w sytuację społeczną, polityczną i religijną na Górnym Śląsku w I połowie XX w. Teksty mają charakter popularnonaukowy i w większości zostały opublikowane na łamach ówczesnej prasy, dzięki czemu rozpowszechniały i popularyzowały myśl i zamierzenia autora. Dostępne teksty zasadniczo dotyczą trzech tematów: pisma z obszaru szeroko rozumianej religijności, teksty dotyczące zagadnień historycznych oraz publikacje z obszaru polityki, które stanowią najobszerniejszy dział.

Nie wszyscy zdają sobie sprawę z tego, że szkolne podręczniki historii to dla wielu ludzi jedyne książki historyczne, z którymi mieli styczność w ciągu swojego życia. To stwierdzenie powinno zachęcać do systematycznego monitorowania zarówno treści, jak i obudowy dydaktycznej tego rodzaju opracowań. Wychodząc z tego założenia, autor artykułu przeanalizował ponad 20 najpopularniejszych podręczników historii, przygotowanych dla uczniów szkół ponadgimnazjalnych w latach 1989-2019.
