Detecting motion independent of the camera movement through a log-polar differential approach
1997
This paper is concerned with a differential motion detection technique in log-polar coordinates which allows object motion tracking independently of the camera ego-motion when camera focus is along the movement direction. The method does not use any explicit estimation of the motion field, which can be calculated afterwards at the moving points. The method, previously formulated in Cartesian coordinates, uses the log-polar coordinates, which allows the isolation of the object movement from the image displacement due to certain camera motions. Experimental results on a sequence of real images are included, in which a moving object is detected and optical flow is calculated in log-polar coord…

The use of camera and LiDAR sensors to sense the environment has gained increasing popularity in robotics. Individual sensors, such as cameras and LiDARs, fail to meet the growing challenges in complex autonomous systems. One such scenario is autonomous mooring, where the ship has to …
Multifocal adult rhabdomyoma of the head and neck: a case report and literature review.
2008
Adult rhabdomyoma is a rare, usually solitary, primary tumour of striated muscle origin that almost exclusively presents in the head and neck region with predilection for male. We herein present a rare case of a multifocal adult rhabdomyoma in a 72-year-old woman. The lesions were located, the first one in the area of the left aryepiglottic fold and the second one right cervical arising from oesophagus. The diagnosis of the cervical mass was obtained prior to resection through cytological examination (FNAC). We discuss the clinical, cytological and histological findings and we provide a brief review of the literature on this entity.
Colorectal infiltrating deep endometriosis: Laparoscopic treatment. A case report
2022
Endometriosis is a disease affecting approximately 10% of women of fertile age. A particular presentation is deep infiltrating endometriosis of the rectosigmoid colon with symptoms that can mimic an intestinal obstruction or neoplasm. We report the case of a 39-year-old woman with pelvic pain during the menstrual cycle and significant anemia who presented an ectopic endometrial tissue in correspondence of the rectum. Because of the thickness of the lesion the patient underwent a segmental laparoscopic colorectal resection with end-to-end anastomosis.

Incidence and Management of Recurrence in Patients with Crohn's Disease Who Have Undergone Intestinal Resection: The Practicrohn Study.
2017
Background: More than 50% of patients with Crohn's disease require intestinal resection at least once. Postoperative recurrence (POR) is almost uniform if prophylactic treatment is not started early. Endoscopic monitoring is generally advised. We studied the incidence and management of recurrence in patients who had undergone intestinal resection. Methods: Practicrohn was an observational retrospective study performed in 26 Spanish hospitals including patients aged >= 18 years who underwent Crohn's disease-related ileocolonic resection between January 2007 and December 2010. We recorded preventive treatments, the incidence of clinical recurrence in daily practice, and associated risk factor…
Postoperatīvas aknu mazspējas prognostisko faktoru vērtēšana pēc aknu rezekcijām pie kolorektālā vēža metastāzēm
2016
Ievads.
3D modelling of a historical building using close-range photogrammetry and remotely piloted aircraft system (RPAS)
2018
Abstract. The photogrammetric survey of architectural Cultural Heritage is a very useful and standard process in order to obtain accurate 3D data for the documentation and visualization of historical buildings. In particular, the integration of terrestrial close-range photogrammetry and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPASs) photogrammetry allows to create accurate and reliable 3D models of buildings and to monitor their state of conservation. The use of RPASs has indeed become more popular in Cultural Heritage survey to measure and detect areas that cannot normally be covered using terrestrial photogrammetry or terrestrial laser scanner. The paper presents the results of a photogrammetr…
Segmentanatomie der Leber in der Computertomographie: Lokalisieren wir die Läsionen richtig?*
2000
Purpose: To evaluate if Couinaud's model using the planes of the major veins is an adequate tool for the presurgical localization of focal liver lesions. Methods: Biphasic helical CT scans were performed on patients evaluated for liver resection using an increased IV bolus of contrast medium (180 ml lopamidol) and 2 mm image reconstruction increments. During the first evaluation, all liver lesions were localized in the conventional way using the planes of the 3 major hepatic veins and the portal trunks as segmental boundaries. In a second review, all lesions were attributed to the nearest peripheral portal branches. The path and the segmental attribution of the portal branches were analysed…
Recurrent intussusception of small bowel in a young patient due to metastases from cardiac undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma: A first ever case re…
2020
Highlights • Metastatic undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma (Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma) is a rare entity in the visceral organs. • We report a case of a metastatic primary cardiac undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma which presented with a recurrent small bowel intussusception in a young man. • Laparotomy by a small midline incision performed on the same day identified an intussusception of a 15-cm section of small intestine caused by a 4-cm intraluminal metastasis from undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma. • Metastasis intussusception in the small intestine is a very rare condition and they are part of differential diagnosis in patient with a history of tumor who present with intussu…
