Model interpretation from the additive elements of the PWRSS in GLMMs

Generalized Linear Mixed models(GLMMs)have rapidly become a widely used tool for modelling clustered and longitudinal data with non-Normal responses. Although a large amount of work has been done in the literature on likelihood-based inference on GLMMs,little seems to have been done on the decomposition of the total variability associated to the different components of a mixed model.In this work we try to generalize the idea of likelihood additive elements Whittaker,1984), proposed in the context of GLMs,to the case of GLMMs by using the Penalized Weighted Residual Sum of Squares(PWRSS). The proposal is illustrated by means of areal application.

Relapse Analysis of Irradiated Patients Within the HD15 Trial of the German Hodgkin Study Group

Purpose To determine, in the setting of advanced-stage of Hodgkin lymphoma (HL), whether relapses occur in the irradiated planning target volume and whether the definition of local radiation therapy (RT) used by the German Hodgkin Study Group (GHSG) is adequate, because there is no harmonization of field and volume definitions among the large cooperative groups in the treatment of advanced-stage HL. Obinutuzumab plus bendamustine in previously untreated patients with CLL: a subgroup analysis of the GREEN study

GREEN (NCT01905943) is a non-randomized, open-label phase IIIb study investigating obinutuzumab alone or plus chemotherapy in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). We report a preplanned subgroup analysis of 158 previously untreated CLL patients receiving obinutuzumab–bendamustine (G-B). Patients received six 28-day cycles (C) of G-B: obinutuzumab day (D)1/D2 of C1 (25 mg D1/975 mg D2), 1000 mg D8 and D15 of C1, and D1 of C2–6; and bendamustine 70/90 mg/m2 D1 and D2 of C1–6. Rectal cancer: mucinous carcinoma on magnetic resonance imaging indicates poor response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation.

Purpose To assess response of locally advanced rectal carcinoma to chemoradiation with regard to mucinous status and local tumor invasion found at pretherapeutic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Methods and Materials A total of 88 patients were included in this prospective study of patients with advanced mrT3 and mrT4 carcinomas. Carcinomas were categorized by MRI as mucinous (mucin proportion >50% within the tumor volume), and as nonmucinous. Mutations in the nucleophosmin 1 (NPM1) gene are considered a founder event in the pathogenesis of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Abstract Monitoring of minimal residual disease (MRD) or chimerism may help guide pre-emptive immunotherapy (IT) with a view to preventing relapse in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) after transplantation. Patients with ALL who consecutively underwent transplantation in Frankfurt/Main, Germany between January 1, 2005 and July 1, 2014 were included in this retrospective study. Evaluation of remission in adult acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) normally relies on cytologic evaluation and flow-cytometric analysis. The diagnostic impact of bone marrow trephine biopsies has not been studied so far. We investigated 26 biopsies of 16 patients with T-ALL. Double fluorescent immunostaining with TdT and CD3 was performed. Corresponding cytologic evaluation and flow-cytometric data were available.
