Low‐Valent Germanylidene Anions: Efficient Single‐Site Nucleophiles for Activation of Small Molecules

Abstract Rare mononuclear and helical chain low‐valent germanylidene anions supported by cyclic (alkyl)(amino)carbene and hypermetallyl ligands were synthesised by stepwise reduction from corresponding germylene precursors via stable and isolable germanium radicals. The electronic structures of the anions can be described with ylidene and ylidone resonance forms with the Ge−C π‐electrons capable of binding even weak electrophiles. The germanylidene anions reacted with CO2 to give μ‐CO2‐κC:κO complexes, a rare coordination mode for low‐valent germanium and inaccessible for the related neutral germylones. Background: Several studies have linked coffee intake and smoking to foetal death, but a possible interaction between both exposures remains unknown.Methods: We studied, within the Danish National Birth Cohort, the potential interaction between smoking and coffee drinking while pregnant on the risk of foetal (early and late) death. The study included 90 086 pregnant women, with information about their smoking habit and coffee intake in early pregnancy, and several potential confounding factors. Mūža ieslodzījums ir bārgākais sods Latvijas krimināltiesībās, kuru piemēro par sevišķi smagiem noziegumiem. Šī darba mērķis ir pētīt ar šo sodu saistītās problēmas un to iespējamos risinājumus. Pētījuma rezultātā tika noskaidrots, ka mūža ieslodzījums apgrūtina notiesāta resocializācijas un likumpaklausīgas uzvedības panākšanas mērķu sasniegšanu. Lai sasniegtu šos mērķus ir nepieciešams, lai pastāvētu reālā iespēja tikt nosacīti pirmstermiņa atbrīvotam no ieslodzījuma. Extraordinary Performance of Carbon‐Coated Anatase TiO 2 as Sodium‐Ion Anode

The synthesis of in situ polymer‐functionalized anatase TiO2 particles using an anchoring block copolymer with hydroxamate as coordinating species is reported, which yields nanoparticles (≈11 nm) in multigram scale. Thermal annealing converts the polymer brushes into a uniform and homogeneous carbon coating as proven by high resolution transmission electron microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The strong impact of particle size as well as carbon coating on the electrochemical performance of anatase TiO2 is demonstrated.
