We sought to determine the effects of the use of a Bioengineered Combo Dual-Therapy CD34 Antibody-Covered Sirolimus-Eluting Coronary Stent (Combo® DTS) in patients with chronic total occlusion (CTO) by evaluating clinical outcomes and by performing an optical coherence tomography (OCT) analysis. We retrospectively analyzed data from 39 patients who had successfully undergone OCT-guided revascularization of a CTO being treated with a Combo® DTS. Apoptosis of vascular smooth muscle cells is critically involved in progression of atherosclerosis and may prevent intimal hyperplasia in restenosis and vascular remodeling. Nitric oxide (NO) is known to induce apoptosis, but the signaling pathways still remain unclear. We investigated p53 accumulation, protein kinase C (PKC) activation and nuclear transcription factor (NF-kappaB) binding activity as possible signaling mechanisms of NO-induced apoptosis. PTCA of the left main stem following protective coronary artery bypass grafting.

Percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA) was performed in 14 patients with significant left main stem stenosis following protective coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The procedure was successful in 13/14 patients (93%), achieving a decrease in mean diameter stenosis from 74% +/- 7% to 31% +/- 12% (P less than 0.01). Accordingly, the absolute stenosis diameter increased from 0.9 mm +/- 0.3 mm to 2.4 mm +/- 0.5 mm (P less than 0.01). Dissection of the left main stem artery and a transient significant fall of blood pressure each occurred in one patient. No other serious complications were noted. Long-term performance of the bovine pericardium patch in conventional carotid endarterectomy.

Objective The aim of the study was to analyze long-term results of carotid endarterectomy (CEA) using bovine pericardium patch. Patients and Methods This study is a retrospective analysis of 274 consecutive cases (173 in CEA group and 101 patients in an internal control group of eversion endarterectomy [EEA]) operated between January 2005 and May 2007. Single-staged laryngotracheal reconstruction for idiopathic tracheal stenosis.

Background This study retrospectively evaluated the results of surgically treated idiopathic tracheal stenosis. Methods Of the 220 patients surgically treated for idiopathic subglottic and tracheal stenosis in the participating hospitals, we reviewed the surgical records of all patients with idiopathic tracheal stenosis. This subgroup required resection of all of the involved mucosa but frequently had undergone more conservative treatments that damaged the tracheal mucosa and cartilage and complicated the definitive surgical treatment. Long-term outcome after drug-eluting stents implantation: Target lesion versus nontarget lesion repeated intervention

Abstract We sought to investigate the relative clinical significance of target and nontarget lesions repeated percutaneous coronary intervention (re-PCI) in patients implanted with drug-eluting stents (DES). Out of 2626 consecutive DES patients, we retrospectively selected 166 (6.3%; 123 males, aged 65±10years) who had a clinically-driven re-PCI over a mean follow-up of 15months. Seventy-five patients (45%) underwent the second procedure for disease progression in nontarget lesions (nontarget lesion re-PCI group) while 91 (55%) showed target lesion in-stent restenosis or thrombosis (target lesion re-PCI group), with no significant intergroup difference in the temporal trends of re-PCI.
