Criminal Mediation, an Instrument for Victim Visibility, a Component of Criminal Access to Justice
2018
Insofar as the intention is to provide legal protection, to speak of victims and of certain victims in particular, implies recalling the obscure past that enveloped them with regard to their invisibility in the criminal system as a whole. Society assumed the burden of the criminal response, through the expropriation of the victims’ rights by the State in the interests of that social safeguard. We have for centuries accepted that it was what society required –it was the conquest of civilization, ending “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth” and the lex talionis. That was the best solution, although the outcome of these responses to that situation, owing to frustration, disenchantment an…
INFLUENCIA DE LA UNION EUROPEA E INSTANCIAS SUPRANACIONALES EN LA TUTELA PENAL DE LA VÍCTIMA, EN LA JUSTICIA RESTAURATIVA Y LA MEDIACION PENAL (Influ…
2019

The use of virtual reality as a potential restorative environment in school during recess
2020
Publisher Copyright: © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG. Copyright: Copyright 2021 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved. Previous research has found out that simulated, Virtual Reality (VR)-based forests can bring equal or even higher restorative effects than real forests. In this study, a Virtual Reality (VR)-based forest was created in order to compare whether VR-based forest can possess restorative effects in the context of primary school, and how the possible effects compare to restorative effects of a normal recess or to a situation when there is no recess at all. The effects were measured using Restorative Outcome Scale (ROS) and problem-solving tasks after the intervention. The res…
Some reflections on Restorative Justice
2023
Abstract Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to offer some reflections on restorative justice system as it represents a valid option in relation to criminal justice for fighting against crime and to pursue the goal of reducing in a short time the widest costs and damages of victims in comparison with the common instruments related to ordinary criminal and civil legal procedures. Design/methodology/approach –The essay firstly focuses on the European Framework leaving from the Directive 2012/29/EU of 25 October 2012, the so called Victims’ Rights Directive, which establishes minimum standards for the rights, assistance and protection of victims of crime and replaces the previous FrameworkD…
Transanal total mesorectal excision for restorative coloproctectomy in an obese high-risk patient with colitis-associated carcinoma
2016
Transanal total mesorectal excision (TaTME) offers great potential for the treatment of malign and benign diseases. However, laparoscopic-assisted TaTME in ulcerative colitis has not been described in more than a handful of patients. We present a 47-year-old highly comorbid female patient with an ulcerative colitis-associated carcinoma of the ascending colon and steroid- refractory pancolitis. A two-stage restorative coloproctectomy including right-sided complete mesocolic excision was conducted. The second step consisted of a successful nerve-sparing TaTME and a handsewn ileal pouch-anal anastomosis. TaTME may extend the possible treatment options in inflammatory bowel disease, especially …
Effect of two prophylaxis methods on adherence of Streptococcus mutans to microfilled composite resin and giomer surfaces
2010
Objectives: Surface attributes of a restoration play an important role in adherence of plaque bacteria. Prophylaxis methods may be involved in modification of or damaging the restoration surface. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of two prophylaxis methods on adherence of Streptococcus mutans to the surface of two restorative materials. Study design: A total of 60 specimens were prepared from each material; a microfilled composite resin (HelioProgress) and a giomer (Beautifil II). For each material, the specimens were randomly divided into three groups (n=20). Group 1: no prophylaxis treatment (control); Group 2: prophylaxis with pumice and rubber cup; Group 3: prophyl…

2019
This study aimed at evaluating the microtensile bond strength (MTBS) and fractographic features of dentine-bonded specimens created using universal adhesives applied in etch-and-rinse (ER) or self-etching (SE) mode in combination with modern ion-releasing resin-modified glass-ionomer cement (RMGIC)-based materials after load cycling and artificial saliva aging.
2023
The "organic discipline" of restorative justice represents one of the most significant innovations introduced by the "Cartabia reform" (L. Nr. 134/2021; D.Lgs. Nr. 150/2022). Many norms will require an interpretative effort in the context of the case-law. Among the most debated points emerge, in particular, those concerning the confidentiality of the reparative programs, the complaint and its withdrawal, as well as respect for the presumption of innocence and the impartiality of the judge.
Germania e Italia a confron…
2015
