To compare whole-body MRI (WB-MRI) with diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), FDG-PET/CT, and bone marrow biopsy (BMB), for the evaluation of bone marrow involvement (BMI) in patients with newly diagnosed lymphoma.This retrospective study was approved by our Institutional Review Board. Two independent radiologists and one nuclear medicine specialist reviewed all WB-MRI and FDG-PET/CT scans prospectively performed on 104 patients with newly diagnosed lymphoma (53 males; 47 Hodgkin; mean age: 44 years; range, 15-86 years) between 2013 and 2015. A Study of the Septa in the Maxillary Sinuses and the Subantral Alveolar Processes in 30 Patients

The objective of this paper is to study the incidence of septa in the maxillary sinus and measure the height of the underlying alveolar process using panoramic radiography and computerized tomography (CT scans). Thirty patients who were going to be treated with dental implants were submitted to panoramic radiographs and CT scans. Sixty maxillary sinuses were analysed and divided into 2 groups: group 1 (totally edentulous) and group 2 (partially edentulous). Diagnostic performance of 2D-shear wave elastography in the diagnosis of breast cancer: a clinical appraisal of cutoff values

Purpose To assess the role of 2D-shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) in differentiating benign from malignant focal breast lesions (FBLs), providing new vendor-specific cutoff values. Methods 158 FBLs (size: 3.5-50 mm) detected in 151 women (age: 21-87 years) were prospectively evaluated by means 2D-SWE. Purpose: To determine the accuracy of measurement by the Nikon Retinomax handheld autorefractor and its ability to relax accommodation. Setting: Pediatric Section, Department of Ophthalmology, University of Mainz, Germany. Methods: To perform a series of comparative measurements, autorefractor readings were obtained on healthy young adults (students) and on children aged 2 to 12 years. The autorefractor readings were compared with subjective refractions of the young adults and with cycloplegic retinoscopy of the children. Determination of four parabens and bisphenols A, F and S in human breast milk using QuEChERS and liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry

Abstract For the first time, a multiresidue, sensitive and high throughput method for determination of bisphenol A, F and S and 4 parabens (methyl paraben, ethyl paraben, propyl paraben and butyl paraben) in human breast milk was developed. The proposed method includes an extraction and clean-up procedure based on QuEChERS methodology followed by liquid chromatography coupled to triple quadrupole mass spectrometry determination. BACKGROUND The diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) relies on clinical, biological and morphological criteria. With the advent of ultrasonography, follicle excess has become the main aspect of polycystic ovarian morphology (PCOM). We investigated whether autonomic nervous system imbalance imposed by pharmacological blockades and associated with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is manifested as modifications of the nonlinear interactions in heart rate variability signal using a statistically based bispectrum method. False positive rate of an arrayCGH platform for single-cell preimplantation genetic screening and subsequent clinical application on day-3

In this work, false positive rate of an arrayCGH platform for its use in day-3 single-blastomere analysis was calculated. For this purpose, 38 embryos diagnosed as abnormal on day-3 by FISH were re-biopsied on day-4. Single-cell day-4 arrayCGH diagnosis was then performed. A successful amplification was obtained in 97.4 % (37/38) of the day-4 cells analysed by arrayCGH. Day-3 FISH and day-4 arrayCGH diagnosis were concordant in 35/37 cases. The two discordant embryos were spread and all the cells from each embryo were re-analysed by FISH on day 5. Improved usability of the minimal model of insulin sensitivity based on an automated approach and genetic algorithms for parameter estimation.

Minimal model analysis of glucose and insulin data from an IVGTT (intravenous glucose tolerance test) is widely used to estimate insulin sensitivity; however, the use of the model often requires intervention by a trained operator and some problems can occur in the estimation of model parameters. In the present study, a new method for minimal model analysis, termed GAMMOD, was developed based on genetic algorithms for the estimation of model parameters.
