Home is behind.

The search for identity in the narrative stylistic and poetic study
2016
This dissertation deals with the quest for narrative identity in four distinct narratives: Le Premier Homme, by Albert Camus; Les Oliviers de la justice, by Jean Pélégri; Ébauche du père, by Jean Sénac; and Outremer, by Morgan Sportes. The authors of these narratives belonged to the community of French people born in Algeria and, later on, to that of the pieds-noirs. The texts examine mainly the end of French Algeria. This accounts for the reference to the years 1954-1962, among other periods of time, and to the tragic consequences these years led to, including exile and uprooting. The designation “French Algeria” in itself contains at least a dual reference to identity, if not referring to…

2012
Anthropology’s boomerang and the « gastronomic meal of the French » : elements for an ethnography of patrimonial distinction. The inscription of the “gastronomic meal of the French” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2010 has been generating many comments — in the French press, of course, which let out a triumphant “cock-a-doodle-doo”, seeing this distinction as the sign of French excellence, but also amongst UNESCO authorities responsible for the Convention for the Safeguarding of ICH. The history of the creation of this application file – a project officially announced by the President of the Republic – reveals a redefinition of its obje…
2019
The aim of this thesis was to investigate the effects of electrical stimulation protocols favouring an indirect motor units’ (MU) recruitment via sensory axons activation and giving rise to extra force development, on the neuromuscular system. These protocols use wide pulse duration, low stimulation intensity, low and high stimulation frequencies and are applied over the motor nerve. The aim of the first study was to examine the effects of these protocols on the extent and origin of neuromuscular fatigue during an acute application. Results showed that for a similar impact on maximal force generating capacity, low stimulation frequencies limit force decreases during the stimulation trains a…
