We wish to dedicate this review article on radical cystectomy, its complications and their prevention to the memory of Prof. Luciano Giuliani. The article is based on a work written originally by Jim Montie and many other authors for the consensus meeting on bladder cancer held in Antwerp in 1994 and recently published in a booklet entitled “Global strategy for bladder cancer” (1). With the consent of Montie and the other co-authors, we have prepared on updated Italian version, inserting some parts (such as vascular complications) which were treated more superficially in the preliminary text.

α,β-Dehydroamino acids are naturally occurring non-coded amino acids, found primarily in peptides. The review focuses on the type of α,β-dehydroamino acids, the structure of dehydropeptides, the source of their origin and bioactivity. Dehydropeptides are isolated primarily from bacteria and less often from fungi, marine invertebrates or even higher plants. They reveal mainly antibiotic, antifungal, antitumour, and phytotoxic activity. Multimodal treatment approaches for children with tumors of the central nervous system (CNS) have markedly contributed to improved survival. Before 1970, the survival rate among children with medulloblastoma, the most common malignant CNS tumor in children, was about 20%. At present, in contrast, cure can be achieved in more than 75% of children with a favorable constellation of risk factors. Imaging features of solid renal masses

The widespread use of abdominal imaging techniques has increased the detection of solid renal masses over the past years. Imaging plays a crucial role in the management and surveillance and in determining which lesions need treatment. The "classical angiomyolipoma" is the only benign solid renal mass that can be characterized with confidence by imaging through the detection of a fat-containing lesion without calcifications. There is a large overlap of imaging features between benign and malignant renal masses that often makes difficult a correct characterization of these lesions. Metabolic disturbances are well-known, but sometimes neglected immediate consequences or late sequelae following urinary diversion (UD) using bowel segments. Whereas subclinical disturbances appear to be quite common, clinically relevant metabolic complications, however, are rare. Exclusion of bowel segments for UD results in loss of absorptive surface for its physiological function. Abstract The genus Xenocylapidius Gorczyca, 1997 is revised. Five new species: Xenocylapidius acutipennis sp. n., Xenocylapidius ater sp. n., Xenocylapidius bimaculatus sp. n., Xenocylapidius gemellus sp. n., and Xenocylapidius rolandi sp. n. are described from Australia and New Caledonia. Illustrations of the male genitalia, color photographs of dorsal and lateral views of the adults of all species, and key to species of the genus Xenocylapidius are provided.

The concept of the review article consists of several parts dealing with the definition of drugs induced liver injury - DILI, diagnostic challenges related to it, and the clinical spectrum of liver disease, with an emphasis on the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease - NAFLD and review of drugs involved in formation of NAFLD.
