Neuromuscular adaptations to combined strength and endurance training: order and time-of-day

AbstractThe present study examined the effects of 24 weeks of morning vs. evening same-session combined strength (S) and endurance (E) training on neuromuscular and endurance performance. Fifty-one men were assigned to the morning (m) or evening (e) training group, where S preceded E or vice versa (SEm, ESm, SEe and ESe), or to the control group. Isometric force, voluntary activation, EMG and peak wattage during the maximal cycling test were measured. Training time did not significantly affect the adaptations. Effect of time-of-day-specific strength training on muscular hypertrophy in men.

The purpose of the present study was to examine effects of time-of-day-specific strength training on muscle hypertrophy and maximal strength in men. A training group underwent a 10-week preparatory training (wk 0-wk 10) scheduled between 17:00 and 19:00 hours. Thereafter, the subjects were randomized either to a morning or afternoon training group. Cardiac arrhythmias in patients with Danon disease.

Aims Different cardiac arrhythmias have been suggested to be associated with Danon disease, e.g. Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome. However, a systematic electrophysiological investigation of patients with Danon disease is lacking thus far. Methods and results Seven patients with Danon disease (4 males, 35.8 ± 10.8 years; 3 females, 51.3 ± 19.9 years) from 3 different families were studied. A method for monitoring intensity during aquatic resistance exercises.

The aims of this study were (i) to check whether monitoring of both the rhythm of execution and the perceived effort is a valid tool for reproducing the same intensity of effort in different sets of the same aquatic resistance exercise (ARE) and (ii) to assess whether this method allows the ARE to be put at the same intensity level as its equivalent carried out on dry land. Temporal relationship between nocturnal erections and rapid eye movement episodes in healthy men.

The exact temporal relationship between spontaneous nocturnal erections and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep was studied in healthy men with the aim of creating a basis for a more sophisticated analysis of nocturnal erection measurements in physiological research and clinical applications. The vast majority of erectile events was coupled to REM episodes, where the latency between the beginning of erections and REM episodes showed a large variability. The effects of omeprazole 20 and 40 mg twice daily on intragastric acidity in duodenal ulcer patients.

BACKGROUND: The combination of omeprazole with amoxycillin or clarithromycin is used as treatment against Helicobacter pylori. It seems likely that the antibacterial activity of the antibiotic may be improved by increasing gastric pH towards neutrality, and a twice daily regimen of omeprazole is probably needed. AIM: To assess the effects of twice daily administration of omeprazole 20 and 40 mg.
