The Meaning and Use of Digital Learning Terms in Estonia, Hungary, Romania and Austria

2022

It is widely known that in order to communicate, interact and understand each other in different educational context , it is necessary to agree on the terms to be used and their meanings. The need for such agreements was also apparent at the first meetings of the Erasmus+ project “Framework for an Efficient and Engaging Hybrid Education in Lower Secondary Schools”. The project partners used very different terminology when talking about digital teaching and learning in English. Furthermore, even when using the same terminology, we might not understand each other because the meanings of terms could vary from different educational context and from country to country. This prompted us to collec…

Ranskan kielen morfologinen passiivi on edelleen jaettu muotojen perusteella kahteen alaluokkaan: 1) finiittimuodot (apuverbi être + partisiipin perfekti), sekä 2) infiniittimuodot (partisiipin perfekti + agentti). Tuloksista selviää, että ranskan 257 passiivimuodosta vain 57 (22,2%) on käännetty suome…

Jak pozostać sobą w obcym języku? Strategie konwersji językowej pisarzy pochodzenia słowiańskiego

2017

Ihe article is dcvoted to writers who after emigrating decided to change the language in which they wrote their books from their native language to the language of the country which became their second home. The strategies which are described in the article are determined by the personal experiences of the writers, for whom the choice of a second language in which their works were to be written became an opportunity to express various attitudes. Piotr Rawicz, a Jew of Polish origin, treated his literary debut - the novel Le sang du ciel, written in French - as an autobiography, which was expressed not in a direct manner but in a manncr based on intermediation of both the complex narrative d…

A Diagnostic-Oriented Screening Scale for Anxiety Disorders: The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Anxiety Scale (CESA)

2020

Objectives This paper introduces a new diagnostically oriented screening scale for anxiety disorders, the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Anxiety scale (CESA), designed in parallel to the revised Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale (CESD-R). In this study, the CESA was used as a diagnostic screening tool for detecting the presence of anxiety disorder symptomatology ascertained by a clinical psychiatric evaluation based on the DSM-5 criteria. The CESA is designed to provide an overall evaluation of anxiety as well as to screen for four important anxiety disorders (agoraphobia, social phobia, blood-illness phobia, and panic disorder). Methods The test sample was composed of 80 …

Interventions for Improving Reading Comprehension in Children with ASD: A Systematic Review.

2021

Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often have comorbid learning difficulties in reading comprehension, an essential skill in accessing any area of the curriculum. The aim of this systematic review is to analyze the effectiveness of reading comprehension interventions in students with ASD. We conducted a search for scientific articles published from 2000 to 2019 using the keyword “autis*” in combination with the terms “reading comprehension” and “intervention” or “instruction” in Psyc Info and Scopus databases. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, a total of 25 studies were selected. The content analysis of these studies shows that when specific interventions are carrie…

Antinociceptive Effects of Turkish Endemic Eryngium kotschyi Boiss. Roots by Bioactivity Guided Fractionation

2010

Eryngium species (Apiaceae) are well known plants in ethnobotanical culture throughout world and also in Turkey. They are used as antitussive, diuretic as well as for analgesic and antiinflammatory purposes in traditional medicine. This study aimed to evaluate the antinociceptive activity of endemic Eryngium kotschyi Boiss. root extracts by bioguided fractionation. The antinociceptive activity of the extracts/fractions/compound was studied in mice using acetic acid induced writhing test and and hot plate test. The methanolic extract was sequentially partitioned with hexane, dichloromethane and water saturated n-butanol. Among the fractions, the n-BuOH fraction showed the most significant re…

A methodological framework based on a DANP model for evaluating the software quality in terms of usability: a preliminary investigation on mobile ope…

2020

Evaluation of the software usability as concerns software alternatives represents a typical Multi- Criteria Decision-Analysis (MCDA) problem. Such a kind of problem can be successfully faced via structured models and approaches which validity have been widely shown in literature. In this work, a methodological framework based on a MCDA model integrating the DEMATEL method along with the ANP technique is proposed and explained with more detail to address the relevant issue of the software usability evaluation. The applicability of the considered DEMATEL-ANP (DANP) based model in the under analysis contest is demonstrated via a preliminary investigation, where the usability of the two major M…

Decision-Making Tools to Manage the Microbiology of Drinking Water Distribution Systems

2020

[EN] This paper uses a two-fold multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) approach applied for the first time to the field of microbial management of drinking water distribution systems (DWDS). Specifically, the decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) was applied removing the need for reliance on expert judgement, and analysed interdependencies among water quality parameters and microbiological characteristics of DWDS composed of different pipe materials. In addition, the fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (FTOPSIS) ranked the most common bacteria identified during trials in a DWDS according to their relative abundance while managing vagueness…

Artificial Neural Networks for Predicting the Water Retention Curve of Sicilian Agricultural Soils

2018

Modeling soil-water regime and solute transport in the vadose zone is strategic for estimating agricultural productivity and optimizing irrigation water management. Direct measurements of soil hydraulic properties, i.e., the water retention curve and the hydraulic conductivity function, are often expensive and time-consuming, and represent a major obstacle to the application of simulation models. As a result, there is a great interest in developing pedotransfer functions (PTFs) that predict the soil hydraulic properties from more easily measured and/or routinely surveyed soil data, such as particle size distribution, bulk density (&rho

Leukotriene B4-loaded microspheres: a new therapeutic strategy to modulate cell activation

2008

AbstractBackgroundLeukotriene B4(LTB4) is a potent inflammatory mediator that also stimulates the immune response. In addition, it promotes polymorphonuclear leukocyte phagocytosis, chemotaxis, chemokinesis and modulates cytokines release. Regarding chemical instability of the leukotriene molecule, in the present study we assessed the immunomodulatory activities conferred by LTB4released from microspheres (MS). A previous oil-in-water emulsion solvent extraction-evaporation method was chosen to prepare LTB4-loaded MS.ResultsIn the mice cremasteric microcirculation, intraescrotal injection of 0.1 ml of LTB4-loaded MS provoked significant increases in leukocyte rolling flux, adhesion and emig…
