The adiabatic strictly-correlated-electrons functional : kernel and exact properties

We investigate a number of formal properties of the adiabatic strictly-correlated electrons (SCE) functional, relevant for time-dependent potentials and for kernels in linear response time-dependent density functional theory. Among the former, we focus on the compliance to constraints of exact many-body theories, such as the generalised translational invariance and the zero-force theorem. Within the latter, we derive an analytical expression for the adiabatic SCE Hartree exchange-correlation kernel in one dimensional systems, and we compute it numerically for a variety of model densities. Para hacerlo tomamos en cuenta tres textos claves que le dedicó al tema, en tres momentos particulares de su trayectoria intelectual y militante: el libro Sindicatos y Poder en la Argentina (1967), el artículo ?Sindicalismo de participación, sindicalismo de liberación? L’intervento si propone di mettere in evidenza alcune caratteristiche (compositive, ideologico-politiche, retorico-stilistiche) dei «Gesta Roberti Wiscardi» di Guglielmo il Pugliese, l’unico poema epico-storico del sec. XI-XII che tratti della conquista normanna dell’Italia meridionale. I «Gesta Roberti Wiscardi» contano 2833 esametri suddivisi in cinque libri, con un prologo e un epilogo, e si inseriscono in quel vasto ambito di poesia epico-storica (e fondamentalmente celebrativa ed encomiastica) che, dal periodo tardoantico conduce alla ricca produzione di storie e cronache versificate che costituisce una delle più ricorrenti tendenze della letteratura mediolatina durante il sec. XII e XIII. The contributions of Hilbert and Dehn to non-Archimedean geometries and their impact on the Italian school

In this paper we investigate the contribution of Dehn to the development of non- Archimedean geometries. We will see that it is possible to construct some models of non- Archimedean geometries to prove the independence of the continuity axiom and we will study the interrelations between Archimede’s axiom and Legendre‘s theorems. Some of these interrelations were studied also by Bonola who was one of the very few italian scholars to really appreciate Dehn’s work. We will see that, if Archimede’s axiom does not hold, the hypothesis on the existence and the number of parallel lines through a point is not related to the hypothesis on the sum of the inner angles a triangle. Defense versus Opulence? An Appraisal of the Malthus-Ricardo 1815 Controversy on the Corn Laws

This article proposes a rational reconstruction of the arguments of Malthus and Ricardo in their 1815 essays, Grounds of an Opinion and An Essay on Profits, whereby a policy of free corn trade was repudiated and endorsed, respectively. Malthus envisaged defense and (trade-induced) opulence as two mutually alternative options and, if required to make a choice, he had no hesitation in choosing the former. By contrast, Ricardo excluded any such trade-off, arguing that even in the case of war or poor domestic harvest, foreign agricultural countries would be seriously damaged if they opted for restrictions on their corn exports to Great Britain.
