The present article offers a theoretical contribution to the understanding of the effectiveness of using robotics as cognitive and social rehabilitative toys. Rilkean Memories and the Self of a Robot

This paper discusses the concept of Rilkean memories, recently introduced by Mark Rowlands, to analyze the complex intermix of hardware and software related to the self of a robot. The Rilkean memory of an event is related to the trace of that episode left in the body of the individual. It transforms the act of remembering into behavioral and bodily dispositions, thus generating the peculiar behavioral style of the individual, which is at the basis of her autobiographical self. Avoimen lähdekoodin ROS-käyttöjärjestelmä on yleisesti tutkimushankkeissa käytetty robotiikan kehitysalusta. Tutkielman tavoitteena on ollut arvioida onko ROS järjestelmä, joka tulee yleistymään myös robotiikan kaupallisissa ratkaisuissa. ROS-pohjaisia kaupallisia tuotteita on jo olemassa ja sen käyttöä on pilotoitu runsaasti erilaisilla sovellusalueilla. On the Stability of the Soft Pendulum With Affine Curvature: Open-Loop, Collocated Closed-Loop, and Switching Control

This letter investigates the stability properties of the soft inverted pendulum with affine curvature - a template model for nonlinear control of underactuated soft robots. We look at how changes in physical parameters affect stability and equilibrium. We give conditions under which zero dynamics corresponding to a collocated choice of the output is (locally or globally) stable or unstable. We leverage these results to design a switching controller that stabilizes a class of nonlinear equilibria of the pendulum, which can drive the system from one equilibrium to another.
