Synthesis and structural properties of hexaaza[5]helicene containing two [1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridine moieties

Abstract We have synthesized a novel hexaaza[5]helicene in a straightforward way from neocuproine. The crystal structure has been elucidated with direct-space strategy TALP which demonstrates the power of the powder X-ray diffraction technique. In this crystal structure it is possible to see an interplanar angle of 33(1)° between the two triazolopyridine rings. The centrosymmetric crystal structure is a racemic mixture, but the resolution was not possible due to a ring-chain isomerization in a solution that produces a dynamic racemization.
Italian Heroines: Literature, Gender, and the Construction of the Nation

Scholarship on Italian nationhood has historically focused on heroes rather than on heroines, in line with the established gendered dialectical relationship between the female nation (who nurtures those who fight for her), and the male patriot, who both adores and possesses her. However, it is argued that Italian literary heroines prove at least as productive as heroes, if not more, when it comes to generating alternative views on the nation. This essay offers an introduction to a themed issue that aims to fill this scholarly gap in relation to ideas about the Italian nation and nationhood.

Il saggio mira a comparare le tecniche narrative di due racconti: Spat' chocetsja di A. Cechov e The Child-Was-tired di K. Mansfield. L'articolo prende in esame l'impiego di alcune tecniche narrative, simili e differenti, elaborate dai due scrittori al fine di enucleare l'originalità delle due opere. L'analisi di focalizza principalmente su tre elementi ricorrenti delle due narrazioni: la strada, le due eroine, gli infanticidi, al fine di sottolineare i contenuti ideologici e i molteplici significati simbolici.

The relative importance of past versus present environment on individual fitness, therefore, is a relevant question in populations that face the challenge of temporally varying environment. Suomi ajautui pian itsenäistymisensä jälkeen sisällissotaan talvella 1918. Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan sisällissotaa paikallisella tasolla ja oikeuslaitoksen näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksessa selvitetään, miten sota näkyi ja vaikutti kihlakunnanoikeuden toimintaan vuosina 1918–1919. Tutkimuspaikkakunnat ovat Leppävirta, Joroinen ja Puumala. Suomen sisällissota on yksi suomalaisen historiantutkimuksen tutkituimpia aiheita, mutta tällä hetkellä on kuitenkin vielä selvittämättä sodan paikallinen ulottuvuus evankelis-luterilaisen kirkon näkökulmasta: miten sota vaikutti paikallisseurakuntiin eri puolilla Suomea, kun niiden jäsenet jakautuivat punaisiin ja valkoisiin. The War Heroine in the Finnish Organization : Lotta Svärd

This paper focuses on a Finnish women’s paramilitary organization called ‘Lotta Svärd’ in a wartime context, from 1939 to 1944. During the Second World War, thousands of members of the organization served as volunteers with the Finnish Army. The primary data for this study consist of the organization’s magazine, Lotta Svärd, as well as archival documents stored in the Finnish War Document Archives. This study seeks to explore what kind of war heroine was constructed in Lotta Svärd. We found four representations of the heroine: Mother, Soldier, Body and Holy Sacrifice.
