One of the most significant influences upon the process of creation of male/female spirituality was exerted by role models characteristic for the culture of Counter-Reformation. Among these models, the ones that occupied the most influential position were Miles Christianus and Heroina Christiana shaped in response to domestic and foreign dangers to which the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth was exposed. The 1997 British and 1998 German general elections showed striking parallels and distinctive differences in the way Blair and Schroeder delivered their campaigns and defeated long-sitting conservative governments. Of vital importance was a new quality of political public relations called `spin doctoring'. In this, the British Labour Party served as a kind of role model for the German Social Democratic Party. “Stories from No-Man’s Land?” Situated language learning through the use of role models in the context of international Higher Education

This article discusses the value of role models in the language acquisition process of international students following an English as Medium of Instruction (EMI) programme in the Netherlands. Narrative interpretations of qualitative data provide insights into the identity work involved in the use of role models and the impact that this work has on the participation of learners in the ir core learning community and other communities. The article compares the use of role models in the cases of three students.
