Synthesis and Physicochemical Characterization ofmeso-Functionalized Corroles: Precursors of Organic-Inorganic Hybrid Materials

2005

Cobalt(III) corroles exhibit an infinite selectivity for the coordination of carbon monoxide towards dioxygen and dinitrogen. This peculiar property thus allows their use as sensing devices for CO detection. Here are described the syntheses and physico-chemical characterization of meso mono-, bis- and tris(triethoxysilyl)-functionalized corroles, precursors of organic–inorganic materials. The corrole ring formation was achieved in every case using the “2+1” method involving the reaction of two equivalents of an encumbered dipyrromethane with one equivalent of an aromatic aldehyde in the presence of a catalytic amount of trifluoroacetic acid. The functionalization of the corrole by triethoxy…

Pyrrole Studies XXVII.1Utilisation of 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolyl Lithium in the Synthesis of 1-Methyl-2-substituted Pyrroles

1982

Abstract Although metallation of 1-substituted pyrroles with alkyl lithium reagents to give the lithiated derivatives has been recorded by several research groups,4–6 only limited use has been made of these derivatives in the synthesis of 1,2-disubstituted pyrroles. Subsequent to ourinitial studies,7 it was reported that tetrahydrofuran was the solvent of choice for the formation of the mono-lithiated pyrrole derivative and that the rate of the metallation was accelerated by the presence of TMEDA.6 We had noted,7 however, that prolonged reaction of n-butyl lithium with 1-methylpyrrole in a 2:1 mixture of tetrahydrofuran:hexaneat ca 18°C in the absence of TMEDA gave 1-methyl-2-pyrrolyl lithi…

Natural gas hydrates vs. induced dysfunctions in the hydrocarbon extraction process

2021

Cantoned fluids in porous-permeable or fractured media of reservoirs have acquired during the geological time special properties. The fluids from the reservoir could be or not a mixture of reservoir water, liquid hydrocarbons and gaseous hydrocarbons. Considering if inside of a reservoir there are two types of substances like natural gas and reservoir water which may be in the form of vaporous than the condition of saturation of gases with water vaporous is fulfilled. This process is taking place due to thermodynamic equilibrium resulting the so-called gas humidity. This state corroborated with a certain chemical composition plus favourable values of pressure and temperature may be decisive…

Novel dithieno[3,2-b:2′,3′-d]pyrrole-based organic dyes with high molar extinction coefficient for dye-sensitized solar cells

2013

Abstract Three new metal-free organic dyes FD1 – 3 with a planar dithieno[3,2- b :2′,3′- d ]pyrrole unit as linker were synthesized and used for dye-sensitized solar cells with high molar extinction coefficients. In this work, dithieno[3,2- b :2′,3′- d ]pyrrole was employed as π-conjugated bridge to construct A–π– d –π–A organic dyes, where 9,9-dihexyl-9 H -fluorene was used as a donor, and cyanoacrylic acid as an electron acceptor. For a typical device, a solar energy conversion efficiency ( η ) of 6.36% based on FD2 was achieved under simulated AM 1.5 solar irradiation (100 mW cm −2 ) with a short-circuit photocurrent density ( J sc ) of 13.76 mA cm −2 , an open-circuit voltage ( V oc ) o…

‘Interrupted’ diazotization of 3-aminoindoles and 3-aminopyrroles

2014

Abstract ‘Interrupted’ diazotization of 3-aminoindoles and 3-aminopyrroles, achieved by quenching with cold water immediately after the addition of nitrite, led, in good yields, to stable compounds whose structures were identified to be the diazonium species with nitrate as the counter ion, which show no saline character.

Selenoproteins, cholesterol-lowering drugs, and the consequences: revisiting of the mevalonate pathway.

2004

3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors (statins) and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha activators (fibrates) are the backbone of pharmacologic hypercholesterolemia and dyslipidemia treatment. Many of their clinical effects, however, are still enigmatic. This article describes how a side road of the mevalonate pathway, characterized in recent years, can rationalize a major fraction of these unexplained observations. This side road is the enzymatic isopentenylation of selenocysteine-tRNA([Ser]Sec) (Sec-tRNA), the singular tRNA to decode the unusual amino acid selenocysteine. The functionally indispensable isopentenylation of Sec-tRNA requires a unique interm…

Alkyl and Aryl Substituted Corroles. 2. Synthesis and Characterization of Linked “Face-to-Face” Biscorroles. X-ray Structure of (BCA)Co2(py)3, Where …

2001

The synthesis, spectroscopic properties, and electrochemistry of (BCA)Co(2) and (BCB)Co(2) are described where BCA and BCB represent biscorroles linked by an anthracenyl (A) or a biphenylenyl (B) bridge. The pyridine and CO binding properties of (BCA)Co(2) and (BCB)Co(2) are also presented, and one of the compounds in its pyridine-ligated form, (BCA)Co(2)(py)(3), is structurally characterized. The data on the biscorroles are compared on one hand to the monocorrole having the same substitution pattern and on the other hand to bisporphyrins having two Co(II) ions and the same anthracenyl or biphenylenyl linkers in order to better understand the interaction which occurs between the two corrole…

Alkyl and Aryl Substituted Corroles. 1. Synthesis and Characterization of Free Base and Cobalt Containing Derivatives. X-ray Structure of (Me4Ph5Cor)…

2001

The synthesis, spectroscopic properties, and electrochemistry of six different alkyl- and aryl-substituted Co(III) corroles are presented. The investigated compounds contain methyl, ethyl, phenyl, or substituted phenyl groups at the eight β-positions of the corrole macrocycle and four derivatives also contain a phenyl group at the 10-meso position of the macrocycle. Each cobalt corrole undergoes four reversible oxidations in CH2Cl2 containing 0.1 M tetra-n-butylammonium perchlorate and exists as a dimer in its singly and doubly oxidized forms. The difference in potential between the first two oxidations is associated with the degree of interaction between the two corrole units of the dimer …

Redox-polymers of acrolein were reduced by sodium boranate and polymeric allylic alcohols were obtained w…
